But it does look cool. I just wish that he didn't make God the bad guy.
My books are about killing God.

In the movie, all references to religion are omitted to make it more kid-friendly. The Magesterium is evil, sure, but not theologically based. That's why I'm only mildly interested in seeing the movie. The parallels with Milton and the deep thinking issues were what made the series such a great read. Toning that down to make more money seems wrong, even if Pullman himself was OK with it. I do have to say, though, that it looks a heck of a lot better than the Narnia movie and its upcoming sequel.

First off, anyone who calls another person an aethiest or other names for saying that they like The Golden Compass, Shut the (explitive deleted) up. I will report you. I'm not sure who to, but I know that i'm sick and tired of having people judge me for liking what I like. You got a problem with that? You think it's "Wrong," or "Bad?" Well, guess what: GET OVER IT.
Secondly, this is not for discussing the merits (religious or otherwise) of the Golden Compass. The reason for this thread is for the purpose of discussing the movie and/or book. If you want to form a thread about the religious implications of the "His Dark Materiels" series, make your own thread.
