Code: LYOKO TV Show Based on Books?

Postby Akito » Fri Jan 27, 2006 9:39 pm

Around the time I discovered LyokoFreak by researching Code LYOKO a little bit further, I noticed an Amazon.com ad for Code LYOKO books. This made me wonder if Code LYOKO was maybe based on those books. You know like the Cat in the Hat movie, James Bond, Stuart Little, etc.

So, seriously. What is it? Is it fictional novels that inspired a French producer to make a TV show out of it or one of those Scholastic "Encourage Your Child To Read by Making it Code LYOKO-related" books like what they do anime and Scooby-Doo? :umm:

Sorry if this question has already been answered, but I didn't find anything when I searched the forum.

The books are official tie-in material comissioned by Moonscoop, the company that makes the show.

Code: Lyoko is an original concept, developed from a short film (five minutes long), called Garage Kids, made by Moonscoop's precursor Antefilms.

If you havn't seen Garage Kids search around the site a bit - there's links to online copies of it floating around - it's very enjoyable.

I hope this answers your question.

I knew about the Garage Kids. I've seen the concept art. If I had been introduced to GK before CL, then I would have thought they were copying GK! It's kind of like James Bond. Dr. No was based on a five minute promotion of his original concept "James Gunn".

Anyway, thanks. Answers a lot it. Good thing Scholastic isn't seeing this topic...

*Scholastic sees topic and makes a short ROM game of CL with messed up theme song lyrics*

To.

If that is what you wish... then better, to avoid spam like the last post above this.

Locking it.
