Uh, I think you guys misread me - I was suggested that XANA is NOT the OS, but instead another of Hopper's programs that fouled up. Due to flaws in the multi-agent program, XANA developed an autonomous sentience like the Marabounta, and then began to grow past his original limitations.

Then, by trapping Hopper, and copying Hopper's keys to Lyoko, XANA gained the ability to control Lyoko, thus making it SEEM like he was the OS.

XANA basically only has the same abilities as Aelita. However, because he is free-roaming and fully integrated into the system, he can do much bigger tricks with those abilities.

Um... Aelita can't spawn monsters. But you're right, he does have the same powers pretty much but on a bigger scale. Like, remember how Aelita was able to blow out to boiler or something from Lyoko?

I am kind of pissed that the OS idea was wrong but things happen. Ok I got an idea, well really an adjustment to the OS theory that should fit with the current data. So we know that XANA is not the OS of Lyoko and therefore was not programed to be the OS. So what if he continued to grow more powerful until his only limitations was the OS of Lyoko. Now the keys, I am guessing, allow the user acess to certain parts of Lyoko's OS, but not all of it (hence the two keys). In gaining Hopper's key XANA was able to acess Lyoko's OS. If I were XANA and I just got partial control over my only limitation I would want to control it. So as The mulit-agent program grew even more it might have intergrated a small portion of itself into Lyoko's OS so that it would have constant control and would not need to use the key constantly, pushing up effiency.

It sounds a bit out there but considering XANA is a program and programs are designed to be efficient it does make a bit of sense. What do you think?

Excellent idea - and as the OS would be based in and operate out of Carthage, that would explain why XANA is so intergrated into Carthage.

One little thought I had was about the multi-agent program which forms the basis for XANA and the Marabounta. I quote Ms. Hertz;

"As a result, we might think each ant is rather clever, when as a fact this has more to do with a collective intelligence."

Given that the multi-agent system copies the model of an anthill, what if XANA operates in the same way, not a single 'intelligent' being, but rather a hive-intelligence like an anthill (with perhaps a 'Queen' unit at the centre with some superior functions)?

Couple this very logical and souless mode of thinking with the power of Lyoko's OS, and you have XANA.

...I suppose. It could be like a bunch of little viruses sort of like the Buggers/Formics (Ender fan.. I can't help it xD) that do tasks through the system like one operates the Specter synthesization and another controls the routers or something.. but they all report back to the center of the hive mind, like the Hive Queens. If this theory is valid, I wish that Jeremie would've discovered a way to destroy the "Queen" (Does this make XANA a he, she, or a "they" now? o_O ) sooner, before it/he/they escaped.

I'm not sure if this works though... XANA has shown behavior that reflects his being a single intelligence before. For example, why would he be so afraid of them turning the Supercompy off? If it was a marabounta, couldn't it/he/they just spread out into other computers, other networks? I guess it wouldn't be as effective as most probably the only quantum computer in existence, but...

EDIT: ...I think they made the word "marabounta" up. Because I can't find anything about it on Google, or even the Spanish Wikipedia. :umm:

At the very least, that is what the spectres are based upon a multi-agent system according to current theory. Basically its a bunch of microscopic individuals used together towards a single goal, as determined accordingly to how it was created and ordered. In a way, you can always think of XANA as the hive queen to the colony of routers.

I think XANA A) thought himself into existence or B) Isn't native to our univers....

Also, XANA has emotions, he just doesn't under stand them.

That's a pretty interesting quote when you consider Hopper SAID he created XANA in his diary.

As for Osiris, Mr. Puck is an elfen plushie Aelita recieved as a Christmas Gift (Merry Christmas by the way!) from her parents several years prior to the events of 1992. She was evidently very attatched to it and continues to be! At some point during the construction of Lyoko Franz seemed to decide to create a physical copy of his work-diary and so on June 6th burnt the whole thing, heavily encrypted, onto CD.

These CDs were hidden at a train station, and th locker key hidden inside Mr. Puck, who was in turn hidden in a hole in the wall of the Hermitage, behind a poster. Franz also seemed very concerned to ensure Aelita knew where the doll was hidden.

During the early events of Season Two Aelita was visited by a series of nightmaress of Mr. Puck hiding from wolves in a tree and discovering a treasure of sorts. This was presumably her subconcious talking to her, trying to remind Aelita of something her father considered important and which might have a bearing on her and her friends.

This actually leaves me curious as to how much of Aelita's memory remained after XANA stole it - these dreams imply strong residual memories, also the voice we hear at the end of 'Mister Puck' is that of a young Aelita talking to her doll, another memory.

Perhaps XANA didn't actually remove Aelita's human memories, but isolated them - they are still carried in her mind but is locked out, like with people such as Jim, Sissi etc. after an RTTP.

Thoughts?

Thank you for that TB3 and merry christmas to you to

I think maybe both theorys are right. Could it have been possible that XANA removed memorys that he thaught could be dangerous to him but left some that were just childhood memorys (such as her playing with a toy)? But these memorys were isolated as a result of XANA taking some memorys from her mind. I mean XANA wasent really smart or anything way back then so it could also be a mistake and he missed some memorys. Could this work?

That's a likely reson why XANA hates Hopper. XANA could have been a lowly program until he began, for one reson or another, to develop into an AI. Hopper could have been running tests, found XANA, and then moved him/it into the comand posision to run things. a few months/days lator, XANA A) reads frace hoppers Diery or B)learns about the outside world. If A), XANA becoms angry at hopper for taking credet for his cration, and starts ploting hopper demise, Hence the "Someone is watching me" line in the diery. If B), XANA's nead to controll (Personality trate He/It seems to have) makes him want to expand his power over this new place.

I'm not sure about memory isolation, because as of now, that current thought is not fully proven nor contain conclusive evidence. It could be possible that when Aelita's memories were stolen from her, that some fragments and residual thoughts remained. Her memory was left damaged, but certain bits and pieces still remained as such and could be accessed when given the proper stimulation. After all, human minds have a pretty good ability of recognition, better than our ability of recollection. All she would need to see the proper things and would suddenly gain the sensation of feeling like she knows the place without necessarily knowing the place or recalling its significance. As for the dream, who knows what it could be or interpreted as of that point in time. Maybe it could've of been a piece of Aelita's past or merely imagery created from her dreams, just imagining herself a child. After all, she still did have dreams relating to wolves and elves, which we know couldn't have happened in real life. But then again, I'm not an expert of interpreting dreams and the thoughts of the subconscious.

You're welcome Osiris and that sounds right - it might need some work though to finalise it.

Reesane - while I don't doubt that XANA grew beyond Hopper's control it WAS stated that XANA was created to specifically destroy project Carthage, much like the Marabounta was created to destroy mosters.

What is likely is that both XANA and the Marabounta were based on the same Multi-Agent-System-Software, and due to bugs in the coding both became autonomous and grew beyond their creators control. Much like you I like to think XANA became sentinent in this manner, but I doubt he was ever the intended Lyoko OS or that he created himself.

"I think, therefore I am."

As for the 'someone's watching me' quote, remember Franz is going a bit senile at this point, due to the constant reliving of one of the worst days of his life, the government agents and the possibility of XANA becoming hostile (I doubt Hopper ever realised the threat XANA had become however as would he have seriously gone to Lyoko with his daughter when he had an infinite amount of time to work out bugs in his creation?)

Hmmm... good point. exept XANA is smat enough to know how to "play dum."

1. XANA defenetly has emotions, but he/It doesn't understand them.
2. I need fead back on the "Evil Entity" theory. could it be posible for an evil spirit to poses the SC and then get stuck?

Reesane, could I just ask when XANA showed definate proof of having emotions? Aside from the case in Franz Hopper where Hopper got angry?

Also, the 'Evil Entity' does not really fit into the very scientific methodology of the show, and the theme of the evils that beset the characters being due to the hubris and obsession of Franz Hopper.

Unfortunately I have to agree with TB3 reensane I don't think the evil entity thing fits it to the shows theme but I do think that your theory about how he wanted to control things outside the confines of his computer could be right

P.S if YD reads this could i be in your fic its great!

Well, you could consider it anger from what happened in Ghost Channel where XANA got angry at the illogical nature of friendship and Jeremie's reasoning.

And the closest thing to 'Evil Entity' XANA may have is the possibility of a computer virus infecting him by a malicious other party. Which is quite plausible, since Hopper seemed to have very dangerous enemies. But I think the evidence points more strongly to gaining autonomy on its own like Skynet from the Terminator movies. After all, it happened with the Marabounta and quite easily and quickly. I would think with the time Hopper put into XANA, it would of had a more complicated thought pattern and not been quite as abrupt with a simplistic plan like the Marabounta, so it could of been biding its time before Hopper entered the supercomputer before putting his plans into action. Obviously not quite a well concocted plan that took into consideration all possibilities, because its been hinted that he was placed into dormancy after Franz's capture, but still quite an advance plan for one who obviously did not fully understand human thought, emotion, and behaviour.

Its a definite possibility, though not the only answer and not really the strongest answer anymore, especially after the events of Marabounta and the fact that despite tampering with XANA, they still couldn't use XANA to find Hopper or the supercomputer.

Ok then, my examples of XANA's emomtions... Tell me if I have forgoten something...

Anger- well, most of us have seen an example of this.

Fear- Code Earth: XANA panics when he realizes Aileta is about to be materalized...
Gost Chanal: There was a hint of fear in XANA at the end. (XANA's Mistake of refuring to Jeremie in 3rd person is the tip-off.) Then XANA panics and uses plan B. (On a side note, the line "There he is at last." means XANA knew Jeremie would try to save his friends by going into Lyoko. A bit odd, isn't it?)

Love- ether XANA can't interpet this corectly, or he hasn't encountered it yet.

Happynes- Franz Hopper: XANA's Gloating about his plans to Jeremie is the best example I have.

XANA's emotional Equasions

Love= Frustration+Anger (This one doesn't make sense if you turn it around... :umm: )
Fear= Anger+Panic
Hapynes+ Anger= Calm

Deja Vu flashes and Return to the Future- There are some possible (but debatable) effects of the supercomputer. The main theoretical effect is the possibility that the time reversions do not remove the more powerful memories of the characters that aren't directly affected by it. The actions of some charaters after the reversions suggest lingering emotional memories, but not any recollection of the actual events that took place. If possible, déjà vu-like flashes can affect these characters if they go to a place that they had visited in a since erased timeline. Jim and Sissi are the two most fan- and voice cast-selected candidates for experiencing these flashes, as they have both been in the lab, scanner, and/or supercomputer rooms in the factory before on three seperate occasions before a time reversion occured. The two also get involved (voluntarily or otherwise) with the activities of the group or XANA on many occasions, seeing as how they are often suspicious of their motives.

The second theoretical effect is the possibility of traveling forward in time, which would be called time progressions (likely going/returning to the future in the show). This is never seen in the first two seasons, but it's always possible that they could do so in the third or fourth. A different color for the time bubble would probably be used for it. An alternate version of this theory concocted by fans is that the scanners would be used to achieve this effect (perhaps in the same style as the virtualization process). A common problem with this theory is whether or not XANA will get stronger or weaker when this happens or if people will remember the events that took place.

You got that from Wikipedia, didn't you?

Whether these effects are possible depend mainly on the mechanics on how the RTTP actually work. Some people think its an actual time machine for which the second effect is possible. Others think its just plopping minds and knowledge of the selected into their former selves. That lends possibility to the first effect, but that depends whether it returns the memories of the selected, or returns the memories of everyone and erase or block the memories of those not protected by the supercomputer. I believe I've heard that the RTTP can be likened to the show 7 Days, but I've never seen the show. Maybe someone whose seen it can comment.
