My opinion is how health care should work is that whenever someone needs treatment, they get it. Money is no option. If they can't pay, the government pays. And then they can pay back the government slowly and gradually at their own pace.

The Healthcare thing was needed, IMO. Yes, we're in a bit of a poor economical straight right now, but honestly, if this isn't done now...it'll probably be awhile until it ever has a chance of getting done again. I can't even begin to touch the "healthcare bill = communism" thing because well... Medicare and a lot of other healthcare things are government operated anyway, so it's a bit of a moot arguement.

Also, I firmly believe that if people are less worried about how the heck they're going to pay for their health and medical bills thanks to good, non-exclusive insurance, they'll be more interested in spending their money on other things, like cars or electronics or what have you and the economy will strengthen again.

As for the passing it in the middle of the night...you'd be surprised at the hours these things normally get passed. The House (and the Senate) don't always meet at normal hours...and there may or may not have been Philibusters involved here (not to mention the time it may have taken for some of these Representatives to decide whether they actually wanted to vote or not) which could easily drag out the hours to the time the bill actually has enough signatures to pass.

Honestly, the amount of misinformation regarding this bill is staggering. I start seeing red every time someone so much as even brings up the words Marxism or Communism and no that's not a pun. (And probably ironic since I just used both words in my post). I have to wonder if the people who are not for this bill simply don't understand how absolutely awful it is to realize that within a month, you could suddenly be without health insurance simply because you don't make the right amount of money to suit the companies, or have a pre-existing condition that makes you completely "undesireable" to them. Something needs to change...now.

Small Topic Edit to reflect the topic change, and because the Nobel Peace Prize discussion has sort of peetered out. If this is a problem, I'll just split the topics into two different threads.

"You're a creepy genius."
