I know you guys are probably tired of all these forums I keep making, but this one actually has the potential to do well.

The Gaming Gathering is a place for gamers to discuss games, or just hang out and discuss random stuff.

Here's what makes this forum different (and better)

-A cash system that pays you for posts. You can use this cash to buy widgets and goodies.

-Virtual "Jobs" that pay you for doing certain tasks (moderators, admins, staff artists, etc)

-You can actually have an avatar larger than 100x100

-Plus much, much more to be installed at a later date!

Anyone who wants to help run this, PM me or post here. If anyone cares, I'll put out a media pack with banners and sigs you can use to help recruit new members.

If you're interested, please advertise anywhere you can.

I'd be happy to join/help. And I'd be willing to mod the forum along with Jeremified, after all phpbb can get some pretty bad spambots and whatnot. And we also need some good skins, I'm sure Jer-fied could take care of some of that. But about the avatar, I think you need to check up on it.

New features added:

Bank: Now works completely with your cash. Earns 5% interest every two days.

Jobs: You get paid once a week a preset dollar amount based on what you do. This money can be placed in your bank.

Once you invest into getting IPB or VB and a CMS to do what you want (I can name about 3 off the top of my head right now), then there's great potential !

You see, I have no money. At all. Maybe someday when I'm rich and famous, but not now. I think what I have now should work until then (getphpbb is a great host, and they have a lot of bonus stuff. I don't like invision, I don't know why, I just don't. and VBulletin is waay too much money.).

I recommend SMF (http://simplemachines.org). It's compatible with a lot of CMS software (such as Joomla, which is a free CMS software BTW ^^) or you can have the option of installing the TinyPortal plug-in, which transforms your entire SMF forum in to a CMS of its own. All of these I mentioned are free/open source.

The only thing you need though is to look for someone who would be willing to host you for free or a free host that supports PHP (not very many free hosts support PHP to be honest...).

I personally don't like SMF, it's barebones and I don't know very much about writing custom scripts (nor do I like writing script). I chose PHP because I know it, I like it, and it's the most reliable based on my experience.

Let me remind you that this thread is for the discussion of my new forum and comments and/or suggestions for it.

The stuff you guys are suggesting would take insane amounts of time to put into use, and that's something I don't have right now. I'm not looking for the absolute best up to date content delivery service out there, I'm looking to create a simple gaming community. Maybe later, if I have time, I will invest in something more complicated.

God, we need more members. It's up to Jothcra (Colonel Catastrophe) if you're modded or not JF, but I'd say sure, if you could help us advertise more. For one thing, I'm going to make a quick banner linking to the site to help promote it. Oh, and Jothra? I can't believe we didn't already do this. We may not have a .com domain, but we could at least have a .tk domain, to allow easier access to the forum. I'll also set up a TiKilink to attract more visitors. I'm also going to set up some .tk email addresses for the staff, so if you, Jothra and Jeremified, could give PM me your preferred email address, I'll set those up too.
