Well, technically, God didn't make them, we did. Heavy Metal is believed to be influenced by Satan by some. I however just don't like it because it makes my ears burn.


Halloween however, IS paganistic. Halloween descends from All Hallow's Eve. Hallow, means to declare holy. What exactly were they declaring holy? The dead. All hallow's eve was a Catholicized version of a pagan holiday in hopes to convert more people. The price is Dead worshipping ever October.

Also, for metal, most of the stuff I listen to is not metal, but is merely indie rock...and don't say that Pavement's atheist.

Straight-up metal sounds like cacophony, but not the good, Captain Beefheart-ish cacophony. It's cacophony to the nth degree.

I like nu metal, as it is more listenable, but most of it sounds the same. The only ones that stood out were Ministry, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Helmet, Rage Against the Machine, and Grinspoon.

God said not to preach "h8", but look at what we're doing to the Muslims and Jews! They believe in the same God as we do and God made promises with them, but why try to convert them?

Look, guys. We have an area for stuff like this. It's called Big Kids Only, where we can tell as moderators and administrators whether or not you're, one, mentally mature enough to talk about these things, and have the mental stamina and patience to not go and flame someone just because you can't understand them, and two, so we can tell if you're actally developed enough as a poster and know how the forum works, which takes a kind of experince that isn't measured by post count.

Take this as a warning: this topic crosses three boundaries that usually cause hatred, God, Hate, and Homosexuality, through mediums as abuse of the English language by using words with too strong a streingth for this kind of subject, and physically picketing it. Technically, this shouldn't be viewable by the general public, or people who aren't yet ready to talk about it. Because of this, I suspect this thread will be under heavy Scrutiny form all sides, and I request that if you think you're heading down the different directio, you take a deep breath and look things over.

And taking the mod cap off, that's just really stupid. Unless these people are god or something, and understand everything, then they don't need to be picketing this. it's just their name covered with a piece of napkin with the letters g, o, and d scribbled on it in ballpoint pen. There's no reason they can't voice their opinion, but that doesn't mean we have to listen to it.

Man, as I was scrolling through this thread I thought the exact same thing.

As for the picketers getting fined, I'm glad they were punished and I hope they won't shrug it off and/or say the government is atheist. Somebody needs to talk some sense into them.

The guy in question, Fred Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church, is a scum-sucking dirtbag:

Phelps pickets not only military funerals, but any and everyone in his own city who dares question him - he ran a restaurant out of business because they employed a lesbian waitress - every week he sends hundreds of faxes out blackmailing, slandering and denouncing individuals, buisnesses and goverment workers in his city.

His car license plate reads 'Preach H8' or something similar.

He and the other 100 or so members of the church (most of whom are related by birth or marriage) live in a private compound that they created by buying all the houses on the block and then knocking down the fences to form a single communal garden - they built an olympic-size swimming pool in the compound claiming it was a baptismal font - this was one activity the city was able to force them to fill in.

Phelps operates in defiance of common sense, humanity and the law because he is a lawyer and so are most of his children - anyone who defies them becomes the recipient of not only the slanderous faxes but also lawsuits - this got so bad that the last police chief of the city told his men to not respond to any calls or complaints about the Phelpses - thankfully this guy was sacked for taking this attitude and replaced with a more hard-line cop.

Basically, this family is toxic.

I heard somewhere that one of Satans greatest tricks is to fool people into thinking he's God.

My opinion on "gays": Gays shouldn't be banned from anything other than heterosexual marriage advice classes. They deserve the same rights as me and all the other straight people in the world. (I included myself to clarify the fact that I'm not gay.) Being a homosexual in the Bible was more of a choice back then- today the human mind has more complications and people might just have a female gene somewhere in them- they can't help it in those cases. It's difficult if not impossible to tell a gay person who consciously chose to become gay from one who cannot mentally change himself. Innocent until proven guilty.

Gays have rights. Gays have a choice. It does not mean that the choice is correct. Nor does it mean we are not able to "in a sense of agape love" point out that the choice is not correct. Follow the logic. Someone is genetically pre-disposed to be an alchoholic/drug addict. This does not mean that we should allow or approve them to succumb to their "genetic" deficiency. Society has been given strong guidelines for a healthy society. Homosexuality is not one of them. Privacy is one thing, public acceptance is another. If we are to affirm homosexuality than what is wrong to peddle drugs to kids. After all it's a lifestyle choice. At some point you have to draw a line. I draw the line at saying that the homosexual lifestyle is wrong.
