"God Hates F*gs" picketers

Did you guys hear about the so-called "Christian" group that says things like "God hates f*gs" and "America is Doomed"? Personally, I think those people -- a rather large family -- are very evil in spite of what they are doing! They claim to worship Him, but He does not have hatred. He does not hate gays, he does not hate America, and he does not hate our men and women in uniform! Even the little ones are taught to say things like "f*gs" and "you're going to Hell". I strongly believe in God, and so does my mother. We know full well that He is going to deal with these so-called "worshippers" of Him.

I just saw something on this clan, on the TV show 20/20, and even the police got involved with their picketing.

These people shouldn't even be considered Christians. They've broken the basic golden rule, and that is to love everybody. I seriously hope this gets stopped before people get the wrong idea about Christians.

Phelps pickets not only military funerals, but any and everyone in his own city who dares question him - he ran a restaurant out of business because they employed a lesbian waitress - every week he sends hundreds of faxes out blackmailing, slandering and denouncing individuals, buisnesses and goverment workers in his city.

His car license plate reads 'Preach H8' or something similar.

He and the other 100 or so members of the church (most of whom are related by birth or marriage) live in a private compound that they created by buying all the houses on the block and then knocking down the fences to form a single communal garden - they built an olympic-size swimming pool in the compound claiming it was a baptismal font - this was one activity the city was able to force them to fill in.

Phelps operates in defiance of common sense, humanity and the law because he is a lawyer and so are most of his children - anyone who defies them becomes the recipient of not only the slanderous faxes but also lawsuits - this got so bad that the last police chief of the city told his men to not respond to any calls or complaints about the Phelpses - thankfully this guy was sacked for taking this attitude and replaced with a more hard-line cop.

Basically, this family is toxic.
