But I do love dancing.

Queen may have looked like a hair metal band at one time, but Freddie Mercury had already cut his hair and grown his moustache by the time hair metal came into existence...

Brian May was doing a PhD in Astronomy when he dropped out to play guitar full time.

He built his famous "Red Special" guitar in his teens, with help from his father.

He did not, however, build his amplifier; John Deacon did.

The double-A single "We Are The Champions / We Will Rock You" was, I believe, a protest against the then-emerging punk rock genre. "We Are The Champions" was Freddie Mercury rallying the faithful, but "We Will Rock You" was meant to hit punk rockers where it hurt: in the audience. While following the "nasty, brutish and short" rule of punk rock, it ran counter to all the punk rock rules of guitar. The punk rock rules at the time was that guitar was for rhythm only and ran continuously throughout the song. For the first two-thirds of the song the guitar was conspicuous by its absence. Then it came up in a low wail, increasing in volume until the guitar burst into action. The song ends in a guitar solo, which was completely taboo in punk rock.

And then there was "Another One Bites The Dust" which was not only a homage to Chic, then rulers of funk and disco, but was also (IMO) Deacon and Taylor's revenge against Brian May. The bass and drums are most prominent (as they generally are in funk) and the guitar was left in the background (proving that Brian May could be an effective rhythm guitarist, unless they used a session player for that track...)

Brian May said of "Bohemian Rhapsody": "Oh that was all Freddie's. He set that up completely. The rest of us had no idea of what he was doing..." He went on to say: "By the time he was finished, the tape was so thin you could see through it..."

I was NOT a Queen fan until I started watching Highlander: The Series which featured Queen's "Princes of the Universe" as the theme song. Seeing the movie Highlander for which they wrote and performed several original songs (including "Who Wants To Live Forever") cemented me as a Queen fan. This was years after the death of Freddie Mercury...

I like Huey Lewis & The News. I love their songs on Back To The Future "The Power Of Love" and "Back In Time". I also like their songs such as "Hip To Be Square" and "I Want A New Drug". Huey sued Ray Parker, Jr. cause the beat of "I Want A New Drug" sounded similar to Ray's song "Ghostbusters". I honestly dont see the similarities.

I like old school rap like Public Enemy, MC Hammer, Beastie Boys, LL Cool J, Sugarhill Gang, Run-DMC, and so forth. New school, I like Eminem the most and Jay-Z too. I also like rap rock groups like Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, and Rage Against The Machine.

Do you like Culture Beat? They did "Mr. Vain". Love the chorus:

Call him Mr. Raider
Call him Mr. Wrong
Call him Mr. Vain

Call him Mr. Raider
Call him Mr. Wrong
Call him Insane

He'd say
I know what I want
And I want it now
I want you
Cause im Mr. Vain

I know what I want
And I want it now
I want you
Cause im Mr. Vain
