Well, over in Newbies quite a war has been heating up, a war that spreads, like cancer, into the rest of the forums.

It is the war of the n00b-f00ds.

This thread is a place to post your recepies so that we may judge the superior foodstuff.

To kick off, here are my versions of two popular dishes. And these recepies can actually be cooked and eaten. ;)

-------------------------

N00B SPAGETTI (serves 4-5):

Ingredients
Minced Beef
1 Red Onion, Diced
1 Garlic
Tomato Passata, 2 packs
1 tin of chopped tomatoes
Mixed Herbs
Dry Mustard
2 cubes of dry beef stock
Salt and Pepper
A glass of red wine (optional)

Dried Spagetti

Brown the beef in a saucepan on a high-heat, draining off the fat once done.
Add the beef stock to give it a rich, dark colouration and sauce.
Add in the diced onion and crushed garlic clove. Stir.
Add in the pasata and tomatoes, turning the heat down to it's lowest setting.
Stir in one teaspoonful of mustard, and a heaped tablespoon of herbs.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Leave to simmer for 90 minutes-3 hours depending on how rich you want the sauce (though it will be edible in 20 minutes). The liquid should mostly boil off leaving a rich brownish-red sauce of a pleasing and chunky consistency.
During this period cook, drain and prepare the pasta.
Finally, turn the simmering sauce up to full power breifly to heat it through, stirring to prevent sticking. At this point, you might want to stir in a glass of red-wine if this is to your taste - it does wonders for me.

Serve the sauce over the pasta and eat immediately with red wine and some thinly sliced cheese (italian cheeses are best but any soft cheese will do in a pinch).

------------------------------

N00B BURGERS (makes 6 to 8 burgers)

Ingredients
Minced Beef
Two slices of bread (crusts removed)
1 Large Onion (or three spring onions - highly recommended!)
Tomato Puree'
Mixed Herbs
Mustard
Mango Chutney
Soft cheese

This is very fun to make, usually because it's quite gross. Whack the meat into a mixing bowl and then use a food processor to ground up the onion and then the bread (always do the bread second as it will absorb any onion moisture).
Add your breadcrumbs and onion to the meat and then (aside from the cheese) whack in the other ingredients, which can all be to your personal tastes (as a note though, don't go mad with the puree' or chutney as the extra liquid will ruin the mixture).

Here comes the fun bit. Stick your hands (washed I hope!) into the bowl and start to mix, twist, pummel and knead the ingredients together into a smooth blend. Major gross-out, but very fun (tip, make sure the meat was defrosted fully before you started because trying to knead semi-frozen meat is not only difficult, but very cold!)

Once done seperate the mix into six to eight equal portions, and then fold each around a small cube of the sort cheese (about one inch square and half an inch deep does for me) and roll into a slightly flat sphere, with the cheese encased in the burger.

Now basically fry, grill, bake in the oven or BBQ until the meat is cooked through and the cheese oozes slightly from the burger. Slip inside a bun, splatter on the ketchup and devour (and watch out for splurts of liquid cheese!)

--------------------------------

Well that's mine. If you try making these I hope you enjoy, and think of me when you're washing up the cooking utensils afterwards. ;)

And I look forward to seeing your recipies soon. With Chili, Enchildas, Eggs Benedict and the infamous Cookies we could have a feast!

Cheers!

This may not count, but I want to secure my copyrights.
"Newbie Cookies"
These are found on the side of the road in black flowers. But I have found something remarkably similar.

1 Squirrel
the librarian's collection of hissing cockroaches
Noxema
crushed venus fly traps
1 vile of highly concentrated rabies
500 smoke detectors
flour

Separare the squirrel, rabies, and smoke detectors. Boil therabies in a closed container. when it's vaporized, drop in the detectors and squirrels. let that sit.
Smash the cockroaches into a paste, but leave some parts intact. Mix the crushed venus fly trap and noxema together. This will serve as the ooze. at this point (Use tongs and a radioactivity suit) Take out the squirrel and shave it. dump the meat in the cockroach paste. Add flour and ooze. smash into balls. Don't bother to bake them... For decoration add the squirrel hair.

And there's your substitute!

You guys do know that calling someone a "n00b" is an insult, right?

Newbie = someone who is new to a thing or place.

N00b = someone who is new to a thing or place and doesn't know what they're doing. (And are really annoying about it too.)

Actually, I saw that on a neopets site, that a newbie is just that, a newbie. But a n00b is someone annoying, scamming, and ofthe like. Like some people here I will not mention.
I use newbie as a more warning, a simple sign that anything marked with your name on it planted in a black flower on the side of the road is typically not a good thing.
And even smething as degrating as a n00b doesn't mean everything's all bad. Look at the network of people we've created! Look at th potluck of food we've conjured!
My posts always have som kind ofpshycological meanings to them.

Ah! Sorry about that. I never realised that n00b was an offence (and since everyone adds it as the prefix to their foodstuffs it made sense) - no offence intended. :)

Scamming? I've never heard that one. I think you're thinking of a "troll" there. N00bs are just stupid people trying to learn the ropes at the cost of everyone's patience. Unlike trolls, n00bs aren't *trying* to be obnoxious, they just are. Trolls join forums and stuff to make a mess of things and tick everyone off.

n00b-dogs
-----------

Hot dogs
Cheese
Crescent Rolls

Take the hot dogs and cut a slot right down the middle. do not slice it in half or go all the way through. create a kind of pocket. then take the cheese and cut it into small strips and stuff these into the hotdogs. then take the crescent rolls and wrap the hotdogs in them. bake these in a preheated 350' oven for approx. 13 minutes or until the crescent rolls are a golden brown.

enjoy!

Yes, but nobody takes it that way. Or at least no one shows it.
I have offered n00b food to many a soul. Maybe our goal is to redefine the definition of 'n00b' here at lyokofreak.

I do not take offense to it personally either...
I think it is just a different term here. and i want everyone to know that! :clap2:

I agree with to the infirmary! When many people come here, they are complete newbies to *everything*, like I was! If you establish "n00b" as a good thing to start, they won't take it badly. However, if they are NOT new to forums, they may think that it's just our way of saying "newbie," especialy since we really don't need an insult like n00b. At least I don't think so. In some MMORPGs I've played that I won't name *coughcoughRunescapecoughcough* people will simply say things like: "You're a n00b!" "Stop being so n00bish!" "Stupid n00b!" But here it's more like positive reinforcement! YAY FOR POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT!!!

haha.

n00b chowder-pot-pie

Ingredients:
One can of new england clam chowder
1 lb. of powdered garlic
4 tbs. of maple syrup
1 pie crust

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
First, throw garlic over shoulder for luck. Then, drink the syrup to keep you awake while cooking, so that you don't fall asleep and let your house burn down. Next, follow the instructions on Chowder can. Afterwards, fill pie crust with chowder. Then put pie in oven. Leave for approximately 30-45 min. or until crust is golden-brown. Then, let cool for 15-20 min.

P.S. I don't know if it works, haven't tried it. Don't take my word for it. It probably sucks.
