What's with the Kankrelats?

You know how the Kankrelats have those things on the back of their head...



Yeah... that thing... that thing that looks like a switch.

What IS that?

Yeah... I don't think that they actually ever gave an explination... so here's the perfect chance for a little conspiracy theorism...

My first hypothesis is that it's an on/off switch.

Actually...those things dangle...and can move...more like a keychain would.

You can see it moving pretty clearly in this video here at around 00:45 or so. I kind of doubt it's a switch of any kind if it wobbles around like that.

That said, perhaps it's some kind of swivel-antenna? Kankrelats are the only XANA monsters that really have to be in groups to be effective, so maybe it's used for communication?

Maybe it's like a grenade pin then. Pull it and they explode.

Now THAT would be entertainment.

It's probably an antenna. But there is an extreme possibility, it could be a sprayer for some snare or acid. Remember that in first season, Hornets could spray acid. So, just another thing to think about.

I wonder why the hornets stopped doing that (yes, I know it's really MoonScoop who stopped it.). I would consider spraying acid a very good weapon.

Maybe it can make more Kankrelats. I always did wonder how XANA made those (If an explination was given for this in S4, I haven't seen it yet, so spare me the criticism.)

Maybe there Antennas for communication that shoot acid, that if you pull them off they explode, And there a handy place to store your key chain.

Or maybe there a counter weight used for balance.

Or more on that, maybe they act like a cat’s tail in that it uses it to keep its balance.

But that’s boring, I am going with the exploding theory.

The exploding theory would be fun. Someone rides by on their vehicle, pulls the thingy, and 2 seconds later the Kankrelat explodes.
