Starcraft 2

I'm a big fan of strategy games, and the Blizzard ones in particular. I've kind of been studying how to do well at SC2 and I think I'm getting better, but playing other humans can be tough. Anybody else have SC2 or some experiences with it?

Due to lack of processing power to play Starcraft 2, I'll stick with 1.

One of the major things thats a turn off is the lack of lan play. So no more passing it around at school, no head to head against the person that brought their laptop, no nothing. And then you have the regulation of all maps, which sucks because it limits your creativity.

I was too young, but others say that when it first came out Blizzard was so friendly about the whole thing. Now they've just become Apple, locking up everything, deleting what they want, regulating everything, and generally being an ass.

(And I can kick anybody's ass in StarCraft 1. Any takers? I've got a VPN setup already, so no pain)

Eh, the effect of the custom map regulation is kind of overblown: really we only need one zergling war map and whatever DOTA variant rises to the top in terms of custom maps. Maybe a Tower Defense too. I've seen all three so far looking about.

I do agree not including LAN is dumb, but I guess they figure handshaking with battle.net before doing a LAN game ALA how Steam does it is just too easy to fake in terms of pirating. I do understand why they took that route, and at least it's not a retarded Ubisoft "must check in every 10 seconds or the game exits" kind of thing. It's also still better than some computer busting trash like StarForce or SecureROM, I'll take online check-in over those any day. Heck, after signing in once, I can play the single player in off line mode, so my fears about that were kind of assuaged.

I'm having a lot of fun with it over the old one, silly little things like interface updates showing control groups I set has really improved my game. I do recommend at least trying it if you can get ahold of a mid range gaming machine.

Really? Unless your living out in the sticks, is it that much of a pain in the ass to play over wifi? Or even a router? Hell I don't even have a laptop, and the other day me and friends where playing at their house. Dragged the thing there to play. Oh sure, the purest will complain about lag, but screw it. Generally I don't care because I hate playing with strangers anyway.

And the regulating of the Custom Maps? So what? Did we really need the porn maps anyway? (though I do mourn the lost of the SEX channel.)

Anyway, I suck at RTS but I've been enjoying the heck out of singleplayer. It's going on hold though until I can get a better graphics card.
