April Fools?

Postby SnIp3r_WoLf » Wed Apr 02, 2008 12:39 am

IGN released a trailer for a Legend of Zelda movie today, and I want to believe it's real, but it might just be an elaborate April Fool's joke. Normally I'd believe it, but the movie supposedly comes out April 1st next year. Now that might just be a conincidence, but if it is a joke, it's a really expensive one, taking into account actors, costumes, and other things. So I'm not sure if it is an April Fool's joke, or if it's actually real.

Here's the link to the trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTHJtI_FLz4

Thoughts?

Be neat if it was, but some parts are giveaways to its April Fooliness.

For one thing, the plot scenes seem to be mashed up between Ocarina and Twilight, with maybe some older games thrown in. Considering that they care more about continuity these days, I doubt this would be a new story- they specifically mention that this Link is Hero of Time.

Plus, would Nintendo really release this sort of thing to IGN? Exclusively, anyway?
(yeah, the cool links in my old sig died. :( A few nerdy newish projects are here. )

If it was a joke, it'd have the king of Hyrule in there (from The Faces of Evil)

:/ I sure as heck hope not. I mean...some parts of it looked a little silly...but movies are never as good as the books and movies are never as good as the games. *shrugs* Even so, I was really really excited to see the monsters that you actually had to fight in the game and stuff. :] I really REALLY hope it isn't a joke and I plan to find out for myself.

I wouldn't say that. Movie makers cut short and edit a LOT of things that they take from books or games and make into movies because of the length. So if they aren't planning to make a sequel, they could very well put a whole bunch of stuff together. They did it with the Series of Unfortunate Events. Now may that not be the best example...it's still a possibility. XD And I may be trying to hard to justify this to be real. But I really do want it to be.

I guess my last argument in assuming that it'd be real is that the makers are either incredible masterminds and can make up stuff really fast or just...crazy or something but...I know I certainly wouldn't want to spend all that time CGing the effects they had in that preview for just a joke. *eye twitches*

http://movies.ign.com/articles/863/863492p1.html Read editor's note.

On a side note, watching it opened up a whole new meaning of torture. Ugh! *shudders*

Really now? Did you just like like it or do you think they completely butchered it?

I'll admit...I'm really worried they're going to kill it. XD But I'm happy they're trying. Seeing the actual movie in theaters is still an adventure and I still get a thrill out of seeing characters I love in live action...no matter how bad the actual movie might be. XD

This must be one of the most elaborately planned April Fools pranks I've ever seen. O_o It kind of gave it away when the release date was exactly one year away, but nonetheless, this would've been seriously cool.
thank you all for the good memories <3
