Not everyone likes her work, Rowling said, likely referring to Christian groups that have alleged the books promote witchcraft. Her news about Dumbledore, she said, will give them one more reason.

You say the Potter books suck even if you didn't read them and yet you like stuff like Teen Titans and Mew Mew Power... your credibility as a human being is lost on me.![]()
I kid, I kid...

What you mean we have a chance to get rid of this jack*ss? HELL NO! Lets drive cross-country and disrupt our lives for a child we don't care about because my wife had sibling rivalry issues.

MakeYourself85 wrote:Yeah, Teki... this also screams of a publicity stunt. Harry Potter is still over worldwide, so mentioning Dumbledore is gay looks like craving for attention, even if Rowling just said Dumbledore is gay for sh*ts and giggles.ThePepsiPiper wrote:MMM I did make an attempt. The Dursleys treating Potter like crap is no different than the Cinderella situation or real life cases where stepchilds are treated like maids and slaves. Cinderella was used like a maid, but did her stepmother wanted to murder her? No. And besides, the Dursleys-Potter isn't the main thing of the story.
It was enough that half-way threw the first book I gave up on it. I know they explain why in later books, but I still think it's stupid that his Aunt hated his sister so much (SHE WAS BLOODY MURDERED) that she can't even find pity for her orpaned nephew. Thats pathetic, no one is that cruel.ThePepsiPiper wrote:Just JK trying to appeal to angsty goth kids of the world that feel their parents don't give a damn about them.
I never heard of Rowling caring about inbreds, so prove me Harry Potter was made for goth kids at a first instance.

Just my opinion, but maybe you should read into it again. It's something more than that. You can't judge a character or a trilogy based on one book, where the characters have time to grow and the backstory to unfold.
Unless I misread, I do recall the situation with the Dudley's making sense later on, and why Aunt Petunia hates Harry so much. I can't say too much, but think about it; why would Dumbledore put Harry with a family who hates him? There's a reason for it, and you have to read to find out.
Also, Carth, Dumbledore used somethingorother? I swear to God, I'm just going to hope that's a grammatical error, or you mixed up characters.

Honestly, it doesn't make a difference to me. But why did Rowling wait 'till now to tell us? After never even hinting at it, what's the point? That's like George Lucas telling everyone that Han Solo was gay after Episode Three was over. "Um.. Okay then. Thanks for clearing that up, George. Cause yanno, we'd always wondered."

Umm... riiight... You see, I'm under the assumption that Zero is asking "Who cares if he is gay?" and I'm responding with the word "homophobes," as an indication that homophobes care about whether or not he is gay. That's why I bolded the question, as though I am answering it.AngelBolt wrote:KnifeShock wrote:Homophobes.Sithking Zero wrote:...

That's really unfair, KS. The book series is over, and before you hearda bout this, your opeinion wasn't changed at all. But because of one three letter word that was never actually mentioned in the book, someone merely smoothing out the idea is a homophobe?

Well, actually, people who really like fanfiction care if he's gay or not, but that's somewhat irrelevant.
And just out of curiosity, did you interpret some else from what I answered? And if so, what was it?
