I don't live in Japan, so even if I did go back in time, I wouldn't... you know, be there. But even if I did live in Japan, I don't think I'd want to do it. I'd miss my modern conveniences far too much. It looks kind of cool when it's featured in anime, but we'd all probably be just a bunch of peasants or something, and that doesn't sound like a good deal to me. I'd rather live in Japan today. It seems like a cool country, but the huge language barrier is a turn-off.

But I'd do it if Yumi was my guide. Or better yet, my girlfriend! :D

Meh. If I can bring back a .44 Magnum and shoot Inyuyasha in the head Dirty Harry style I may consider it.

Wasn't that around the time when Samurai would go around killing other tribes of helpless villagers?

I think so. I Think I'll stay in the nice, civilized, toaster equipped 21st century.

Feudal Era = early 1800s
(also around this early half of the century: the Louisiana purchase in the US, War of 1812, end of the Spanish Inquisition...)
Meiji era = around 1867
(also around this year: the 'Manifest Destiny' document in the US, one of Karl Marx's books released...)

I think it'd be interesting to live in that era... But then I think about how history might romanticize a lot of past era in movies or tv.

Around these times though, I think that most people were landowners. So all the profit you made,a good chuck of it went to the lord of the land or something. If you didn't pay, then it was possible they'd send samurai after you. Reminds me a lot of the Medieval Ages actually (I know it's not the same though).

Please feel free to correct me though, I studied art not history :X

*laughs* Yes, toasters would be nice.

I dunno, I really think the fictional one would be great, but not the real one..

Heh, I'm still prepping to go there in three-five years, and I don't wanna deal with culture shock. Let alone TIME shock...

I have a time machine... but it only goes forward... at regular speed.

It's really not so much a time machine as it is a cardboard box I took a sharpie to and wrote "Time Machine" on it....

Turn it sideways; maybe it'll work better as a duplicator...

Flip it upside down; it could work as a transmogrifier.

Priceless, man.

I got one of those, Is it the refrigerator box model or the Washing machine model? I like the refrigerator model; It's roomier!

Ano... I really think that it would be nice and all, but I think I have a better chance LIVING in the time I'm in now. I'd probably, I dunno, get slashed by some samurai fight or something in the middle of a street.

Yes, I definately would like to live until I die.

Let's see. There's a difference between the "Feudal era" and Meiji era.

First off, there was not necessarily a Feudal era. There was, however, the Feudal system, which consisted of there usually being on ruler, and underclassmen which held loyalty tot he one ruler. In this time period in Japan, (according to my sources; that being Wikipedia and various other places) they fought a lot. Fighting a lot equals lots of deaths, or at least a lot of injuries. That's not the greatest of times to live in, even if you are a skilled fighter; you still have a high chance og being injured/murdered.

Now the Meiji era, is somewhat of a different thing. According to Wikipedia, it's when it began to modernize and catch up with the rest of the world because it was behind in technology and USA Commodore Perry felt like bullying them. Joy. Since it meant catching up, it meant no more swards/ninjas/samurai/shogun stuff. So they went to war with their newfound technology in other places, and all that sward/ninja/samurai stuff ended. Yay.

Only time in my life where my two paged paper on the Meiji restoration will come in handy.

Anyway, it wouldn't be such a good idea to revert the world status to that time period, as there was too much violence. And there's also the lack of modern technology. That means that we couldn't be communicating like how we are now via the internet.

I'd vote no, but I don't tend to vote in polls.

Ha. Leave it to our beloved USA to impose itself on other cultures. Spreading our views on modern civilization whether other countries like it or not. What did good ol' Ted say? Speak softly and carry a big stick ;) .

Nah, I like Ulrich too. But not in the same way as Yumi, of course.

Kidding. She's cool and good-looking, but I'm not really that into her.
