He's supposed to be this folk guitarist from Takoma Park, MD (not John Fahey, the experimental person; was on the same label as him) that knows how to play faster than Steve Vai or Dimebag Darrell and better than Jimmy Page. To me, he's pretty much the god of guitar, along with Jimi Hendrix, who invented distortion and popularized it in all of his songs.
His highest selling album is the one in the link. It sold 500,000 copies, but it has yet to have a gold record because that even though Takoma was distributed by many major labels (and is now owned by UMG), they have yet to get the Gold/Platinum deal with the RIAA.
