Who likes The Batman?

Postby Enki » Sat Jul 23, 2005 9:24 pm

Not a lot of The Batman fans out there. They keep saying itll never be as good as Batman The Animated Series. Me personally, I like it. Do you like it and please say how much in the poll.

Bruce Wayne's character lacks the strenght of the first Bruce...though I admit, the new bruce is a younger bruce...still...

Also...the villains got mutilated...the Joker's lost his real trademark, being dressed as an actual Joker, not a large baboon...and the story...pfft...it's like seeing the 80's batman cartoon series...cept the WHAM and BOOM effects...

Personally, I like the new looks of some of the enemies. The Joker looks menacing, the Riddler is freaky, and Catwoman...MEOW~.. The storyline is kinda "meh" yeah, but I'll still watch it. However, I just like "Batman Beyond" better ^^ (^^;...)

i don't like batman. I saw the cartoon episodes when I was like 4 and I used to love them. Until one day they just really scared me. So I haven't watched it since.

Those of you who have seen The Batman, do you think a romantic relationship may develop between Bruce Wayne/The Batman and Detective Ellen Yin?

The only romantic relationship Batman has is with Selina Kyle. And as long as they remain on different sides of the law, their mutual attraction will go nowhere.

Justice League (and Robin) notwithstanding, Batman is a lone creature of the night.

(I am here reminded of the tagline of the DC western comic Jonah Hex: "He was a hero to some, a villain to others, and everywhere he went men spoke his name in whispers. He had no friends, but two companions: Death, and the acrid smell of gunsmoke..."

C'on the first Batman animated series rocked so hard and Joker was one of the greatest villians in that series. Random bit of info, Joker was voiced by Mark Hamile (aka Luke Skywalker).

I love the overall dark atmosphere of the Batman series. Now I appologize for the plug but if you're looking for some more Cape Crusadier goodness check out the the VAA's (Voice Acting Alliance) audio rendition of the novel "Batman No Man's Land." You just gotta hear the Joker in this episode. He sounds dead on like the animated original.

I don't think the atmosphere is that enticing, it's good no doubt, but (for instance) in the original series there was this post-depression era suburban gotham city that, though did not specify time or date, gave the feeling of a place locked in between times. And, taking into account that not only the buildings looked "old" but also the common day artifacts and fashions...it was a much more impressive ambient than the one created by "The Batman" which packs a cool atmosphere, but everything that comforms common life there clashes with it in a more than horrible way.

I wanna get the volume 2 DVD when it comes out. I also wanna get the new direct-to-video movie The Batman Vs. Dracula when it comes out. Obviously, it features Dracula but itll also feature Vicki Vale who we saw in the first Michael Keaton Batman movie.
