I want to be a cartoonist but...

I don't know if I could ever be one.
My dream is to become a cartoonist and have a cartoon on maybe...cartoon network? or other networkes(but I'm aiming for cartoonnetwork) I know I have the talent to do it, and I love to draw! and I don't mean to brag but, I draw cartoon characters very good I allready made a character! her name is inko and she has blue hair and she wears a futuristic looking helmet with intenas. and she's from the future. but I don't know what to do with the rest. I havn't thought of a story or a plot yet(wich is VERY hard)

I think I won't be able to get in. I watch cartoons all the time, and I think, wow...how did they get noticed? it must be great what there doing.
so I get depressed and think I'll never have my show
Ever since I was 4 years old I thought of cartoons and making them.

What do you guys think I should do to get a better chance of having my dream come to life?

Go to college, take a course...sometimes businesses might ask to hire you. That, or make a webcomic, hope it gets popular, have an online store, and hope people buy stuff.

as Vili said, you could make a webcomic, and hopefully if it becomes as successful as MegaTokyo, then you could be asked by CN or something
or if you went to a really good collage or university and got a degree then you could get a good job with CN, but most importantly you'd need to have a presentable story line, and drawings that they would like

A webcomic is always a good idea, although it's hard to get noticed...

If all you have problems with is plot and characters, then that's pretty easy- find a writer! God knows there's too many of us on the planet.

Well, if you want to get into TV, you'll have to plan ahead for your future... Take the right courses in Highschool and college (ask someone what those would be, haha, I don't know exactly) and then you'll at least be on the right path!

Well, I'm not in school, I'm homeschooled. I hope home schooling is as good as going to a real high school. So all I gota do is go to college and show them what I got?

There's always the possibility of going to an actual "Arts" college too. There are many art colleges located across the US that offer majors in Animation or Illustration (whatever your preference is). Going to a college designed to teach you about careers in the arts would definitely give you a good jumpstart. ^_^

You could always advertise on megatokyo...but it costs a certain amount per day (pending on the type you use).

Just keep drawing cartoons--that's how the masters perfected their craft. Go to an arts college and major in animation and you'll eventually be asked to put together a "reel" of short films. If this reel gets noticed, you're in. Also remember that all the greats had to fail many times before becoming who they were. Just keep drawing.
