JH's Music Thread - Techno/Trance/Downtempo Music **UPDATE**

Postby JeremyHopper » Wed Jul 11, 2007 8:48 pm

Ruckus & Grafton is a band that I am a member of. It is a duo consisting of my 14-year-old brother and myself, 15-years-old, and we do downtempo/idm/techno music. Downtempo is a form of electronic music not usually seen in the mainstream, and is also known as Chill-out music.

Bands such as Röyksopp, Air, The Avalanches, Zero 7, Thievery Corporation, Bonobo, and Boards of Canada compose this type of electronic music. Downtempo is thought of as not only a form of music but a state of mind. I don't know about the state of mind, but we do the type of music pretty good. :) Also, downtempo music usually has a more analog feel to it's instruments, as opposed to the digital feeling of techno and trance. Perfect downtempo has an equal blend of analog and digital instrumentation.

Wikipedia describes it as:

..a laid-back electronic music style similiar to Ambient music. Downtempo music typically features a stronger emphasis on rhythm and beats than Ambient music...

Anyway, this would basically be my music thread.
Ruckus & Grafton Music Page
I can take some requests for remixes. Here's my equipment list:

Ableton Live 6
a Yamaha PSR-175 keyboard
Nero Wave Editor
an array of BOSS Effects pedals
hundreds of VSTs
and a Cry Baby wah-wah pedal

Check out all the songs on my page, their pretty good. Comment too! Enjoy!

BTW, if my songs sound *almost* finished but don't sound completely done, that's because I have the demo version of Ableton Live 6. It won't allow me to save my work, or record it, but I have found a way of recording it. :) I'm planning on buying the software when I have enough cash.

**UPDATE**

I've started making some more club oriented songs, like techno and trance music with downtempo and idm influences. It sounds pretty good. And I've been DJing live with my own music lately.

Here's the list of new songs:

Röyksopp - Sombre Detune (Ruckus & Grafton Remix) (a fairly club-friendly remix of a Röyksopp song)

Röyksopp - Poor Leno (Ruckus & Grafton Club Mix) (This song is a much more club-friendly version of my other remix. This version I actually had in my DJ set the other night and the clubbers loved it!)

Ruckus & Grafton - Digital Revolution (an original, short club song)

Ruckus & Grafton - That's All She Wrote (A song that my bro and I wrote to be a club song. It's not the greatest.)

Ruckus & Grafton - Seventh Harmony (this song has a pretty solid club beat, and the ending is great)

Please post remix requests, which I am accepting full time, and check out the new songs! Thanks!

Peace out
