Forum Clean-up?

I've been thinking really hard, and I came to the conclusion that LF may need a scheduled full clean-up. That said, I think that every locked topic should be deleted. Also, I thought it may somehow lower the forum hic-ups that occur, even though its not excessive. I know everyone has worked hard on those locked topics, but what use are they if theyre locked?

Perhaps there could be some sort of archive forum for all those old topics, because I know that a LOT of people want them around. If it's not too much strain.

I think only the spam topics should be deleted, not everything.

Oh yeah- that's what I forgot. Delete the 'help me choose my insurance' topics, keep the old BKO hangouts.

(Also, because, remember this- if you delete posts, you delete post counts. Deleting those hangouts will make a rather big difference in post counts across LF. Like, into the thousands.)

hmmm... well it makes sense that it should be cleaned up. But I also like the idea of having an archive, so that new or future members can know what has happned in the past.

Separating Spam and "LOCKED" (basically useless like spam) to be a bit too difficult for the admins/mods :/
This is what slows the process of cleaning, separation. LF recently got a new moderator, so things are looking up to the consideration of this.

Topics are no good if they are locked.

EDIT: NOTE THAT THESE "ARCHIVES" ARE SPAM. Why would you want to keep spam?

Posts resulted from spam shouldn't count. Like "THIS TOPIC NEEDS TO BE LOCKED!"

Well there are certain threads (this is speaking in general, mind) that are kept around in plain sight for the rest of the forum as an example of what not to do. I haven't seen it much here at LF, but I have seen it at other places.

And yes, there are spammy locked threads, but believe me when I say that the greater majority of those are taken care of. If there's any still sitting around, it's because no one's gotten to it yet.

As far as LF's immediate cleanup is concerned, I don't know. It would be a pretty big job for us ^^; But I will talk to one of the other mods about it next time I see them, and we'll see what they say.

Ok, I got an idea; Make a locked forum for all the locked spammy/reused topics, loke these:

It would a good idea to do that after the suggested cleanup. The process goes:

Not to seem like you're being ganged up on, but it would be nice to see links to locked threads that support your idea ^^;.. And about the "every single one", not every locked thread needs to be moved, because they're not all spam, nor useless once they're locked *blinks*

Ok, so then no more rules? I can understand just eleting some threads, but just flat out deleting every locked topic since the start just isint gonna happen. It would just cause massive confusion

And you shouldn't delete topics that could still be useful for new members, like the original LTT thread for example.

Which has more or less been said already, a couple different times ^^; Personally, I say that the delinquent threads be linked as an example and evidence for a decision on whether to do a forum clean-up, which stops this starting-up of going around in circles.

Threads like these are the ones that I think need to be deleted. It's in the wrong place, and the creator posted three times in a row. -.-

I think several theads, such as old rants, very old BKO threads (But not the freestyle ones!) And old games threads (Like the hotels, past caption contests, Banning, and more) Could stand to go. Some old fanfics for people who've quit their stories, haven't updated in a long time, and reccomendations for other fics might need to go. The fanart mabey we don't need to keep, just the very old ones though. With the permission of the author. mabey. if there aren't oo many.

And possibly old site discussios too.

Therefore, we can put classic reads, IE Freestyle threads (ok, mabey not...) old site news, and such.

I can understand how some threads should be deleted, just for the sake that they're spam, but then what would be stopping another new person from trying the same thing? Yeah, alot of people dont read rules, but if they were to see the mistake somone else made, maybe they wouldint make a spamish thread themselves.
