Unplanned Downtime

My host did something amazingly weird today, and it appeared that it just plain went down for a while without explaination. I'm expecting an e-mail or somesuch eventually, but for now I'm just glad everything seems to be back to normal and a-okay.
Don't bother sending me messages or anything, I'm not in charge of the site anymore.
But I do love dancing.

I know. UGH.
I checked lissaexplains.com (a huge site which is also hosted by DH) and she's down too.
My guess is that their support e-mail addy is gonna have A LOT of POed customers ranting to them.

Finally.
If you're interested, here's what happened when everything was down....

Regardless, the remaining three generators were not sufficient to meet the building's power
needs and that caused the emergency electrical systems to transfer into a “load shedding
modeâ€

If I understand it correctly (which I just barely do...) the forum runs on a database. The software of the forum is always interacting with that database, and occasionally when there isn't enough bandwidth for it to do so it'll "time out" and can't connect for a while. The result is an error screen like what some of you saw tonight. There's nothing you can do to prevent them or fix them, but if you check back in a minute or two it'll come back up.

Yeah, as Erynn said. PhpBB2 connects to a database through php. I assume that your hosting company gave you access to a table in the database. Obvously either the database server crashed or the connection was severed somehow.
