Should CL get a new theme song?

This is something that I've been thinking of recently. Since there's this stronger chance of a new season, do you think they should produce a new intro, if so?

I'm not saying I hate AWWD. I don't. It's just... meh. And if Moonscoop is awesome enough to make these possible episodes based off the novels, I don't think "Today, make evil go away!" would fit very well.

This would make more people think CL is an anime, but I'd like to see it with a kind of longer, more awesome intro, kind of like Soul Eater or Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex/2nd Gig.

I think they just need to go back to the instrumental version of the current one. I vaguely remember that it was like that at some point and I hated the change.

To be honest, that's the what got me to begin watching Code Lyoko.

It could help if they at least reword the lyrics a bit

Its nostalgic. I would not want it to change. Because I have been watching the show for soo long... even though I never liked the theme song.

I don't know. It would be good idea if they make some new theme song(or the remix of the old one), however, I wouldn't mind if they keep the old one forever...

It would be like changing the national anthem. You might come up with a song that sounds cooler, but it wouldn't mean anything. It wouldn't have any emotion or memory attached to it.

I agree. Certain people was to change the national anthem to make it softer for the Middle East, but that's beside the point.

This is a little sudden, but I think that even if the current mix of UMSD/AWWD is kinda dull, maybe a happy medium can be found- like a remix of the same lyrics, or a re-translation. And maybe a longer cut for the theme song. And maybe some actual theme animation...

I think that if they made a theme song specifically for the show, changing it would be a little sudden...unless they did it well enough. That would also be pretty neat.

I love AWWD/UMSD. It's one of the best cartoon openings I know. The lyrics are not the best lyric-writing around, but what should we expect from a work for age target 9-11? That still makes me laugh after all those years I've been into CL. It has memories and emotions attached to it, like SilverPrince said.

After so long, I kinda doubt a new season being made anytime soon. It's faded from public attention for too long for them to make a successful revival.

But if they were to change it, I'd recommend something kinda like Kikou's dancefloor mix of Planet Net or the UMSD Extended Club mix. As Carth said, some graphics not from the show itself could help.

First think I want to say is if memory serves right, the instrumental version was something magozie (or what Ever that was called again) and CN did only. Either they didn't have the english version yet (find that hard to believe) or like CN does with a lot of things from out side studios, they change it for time or just cause they said so.

But to the subject, a remix would be cool, but a new song and too much dedicated animation would start re-bluring the lines between CL and classic anime, which was IMO one of the biggest things that set the less informed and those that hated CL off all the more as they kept trying to connect the two.

Don't get me wrong, a true CL anime would be a sight to behold and a new opening cold be nice, but honestly, I love the classics.

Anime usually have elaborate openings, and would be nice to see one of that quality on CL, but entirely changing the song and getting rid of a AWWD wouldn't work.
(Slightly offtopic: a CL anime would certainly be something, but if they put in anything like a magical girl transformation (Re: Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew, MMPPP, etc.) then.....well, lets just say it would be interesting.)

my idea is to have the main theme. AWWD. but to also have a new theme to fit the season. for example. if season 2 is about Aelita finding her memories then have some one sing a song about lost memories. etc.

Now the question is who would sing these songs?

In my opinion, the theme song is good no, great enough as it is. If it were to change, my love for the show would only go downhill by a lot.

The theme song need to be remade.

The current theme song is too happy and childish (Granted it's a show for young teens) and needs to be more appropriate to what is going on in the show; the song has to be more heroic and epic.

Agreed. Very agreed. The show's target audience was supposed to be 6- to 12-year-olds (first grade to third/fourth grade in the US), but it has gained quite a following with some younger (Mirabelle's son, for instance) and some older (TB3 and myself, for instance) fans.
