Haider. Were you around for this? I don't think you were.

SO. Once upon a time we discovered these Italian CL novels but no one official is nice enough to translate them so the almighty TB3 did. We released them on a Wiki and then stuff happened and then they were gone for two months and then they came back two days ago. They're in the CLC forum and you have to be on a livejournal. G'bye.

OH. AND THEY KICK LOTS OF PATOOT. LIKE, SERIOUSLY.

Have a lovely scan of volume 2's cover

Jeremy's looking more and more like a young Macaulay Culkin - sweet picture though :)

Aelita's face still terrifies me but I deffo like this cover a lot better than The Underground Castle! Now that I can see the staircase more clearly, it reminds me of the Hermitage's staircase: http://img.codelyoko.fr/galeries/decors/Decors_020.jpg but a lot more elegant. Perhaps that's what it is? Especially with the hole in the wall/secret room?

And now I see this is where we got that quote from book 2 from!

Book 3 in five days, guise. Get excited! And moar chaptars, Teebs?

No idea D:

The third book's out now according to the release dates on the Italian bookseller sites, but I cannot find any cover art anywhere and this makes me sad. I wonder if the Italian base has more info...

BIG NEWS

The French translation is going ahead. A group named Albin Michel will be translating at least Volume 1, which is slated for release in September.

Maybe an English translation will soon be forthcoming as well - until that time, we'll keep rolling with the fanslation :)

WHOO!

That's great news, TB3! Not just for the French, who are going to get the story they deserve, but for us- and for this fantastic book's popularity. Do you know if the French fanslation'll be going ahead, or if they'll stop it because of licensing? Either way, :3.

Poking around Albin Michel...it's more of a general licensor than specifically a children's one like Atlantyca is. They do have a children's section, and they appear to have worked with Atlantyca before because they've got Geronimo Stilton. Cannot find a whit of information about CL on their site. Very well organized and professional-looking.

GUYS GUYS

I FOUND THE COVER ART

IT HAS EVA SKINNER ON IT. AT LEAST I THINK THAT'S HER. AND SHE KINDA LOOKS LIKE WHAT I DREW EXCEPT A LITTLE NOT REALLY. AND THERE'S A SRS JEREMIE IN A COAT. AND A PURPLE-HAIRED AELITA. THEY STILL CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO PAINT HER FACE. LIFE'S COOL.

Image

Quality's not very good, though. Sorry.

You at least have to admit that fancy cog/lattice stuff is awesome. <s>Also Jeremie's lookin sexy in them thar coat o his</s>

I found it here: http://www.libreriauniversitaria.it/rit ... 8856605143 . It's the only Italian bookseller I've seen with the art...but I nearly fell out of my chair when I actually found it.

TBH I was kind of hoping for other characters on the cover. I guess Eva's good enough.

Holy cow - Jeremie looks like he's in his 20s

And Aelita is...purple...is she pointing or offering her hand?

And HIIIII Eva (quite close to your imaginings Carth, bravo!) - hrm, given her somewhat confused expression I wonder if this is real-Eva or XANA-Eva (wouldn't XANA have 'vacated the premesis' by now?) - either way, I can't wait to find out!

Carth, you are awesome beyond imagination! :)

Real-Eva, one would guess. Xana's Human impression needs work, after all, so he likely got kicked out during book 2... which makes me wonder if they do a RTTP from the end of book 2 all the way back to the start of book 1...

Weird, almost looks like action figure modeling rather than artist drawing.

Season 1's been...recanted in this continuity, so to speak. The novels skip right from XANA Awakens to pretty much the plot center of Code Earth/False Start with nary a mention of any XANA attacks in between.

So...yeah. Different continuity indeed.

Yup - at this point he would be a superfluous element - this volume is literally about introducing new readers to the kids and giving them a crash-course in the show's history, while laying the foundations for what comes next.

At this point, all we know about the secondary characters is;

Jean-Pierre Delmas: He's the school principal
Jim Morales: He's a gym-teacher and supervises the dorms
William Dunbar: Rival with Ulrich for Yumi's affections
Sissi: She's Delmas' daughter
Hertz: She teaches science

Remember that the only scenes set at Kadic in this volume are told in flashback (so there's no room to expand on these school-related characters), and that at this point, the new readers don't need to know anything beyond the above basic information

This is Lyoko 101! :D

Jim Morales: He's a gym teacher and supervises the dorms
William Dunbar: Rival with Ulrich for Yumi's affections
Sissi: She's Delmas' rich, spoiled, and selfish daughter
Suzanne Hertz: She teaches science

Jim also is the Pencak Silat instructor, and, when the situation calls for it, a very kind and loving person when he wants to be. ;) Jim is also the night watchman, occasional librarian, and lots of other jobs.

As revealed in Echoes, the Delmas family is presumably very rich. Why else could Sissi have all those clothes in her closet? ;)

Not to be rude, but I can't believe you're hung up on the temporary minor roles of side characters when the novels have so much more to offer in the realm of plot expansion and intelligent writing.

That said, again, they're not at Kadic yet. Be patient.

Okay, Carth, take a chill pill. True, they're not at Kadic yet, but right now it's getting a tad uninteresting, save for the kids getting caught by the police.
