Lots of people who like CL have never heard of Garage Kids, it's okay.

Anyway, Garage Kids is a short pilot film that begins with Odd arriving as a new student to Kadic. There, he meets Jeremie, Ulrich, and Yumi and discovers that his friends have a two huge secrets; 1) Yumi has telekinetic abilities (in the real world), and 2) They know about a huge artificial, digital world known as Xanadu that's connected to the Earth. When a smoky form emerges out of Jeremie's computer they head to the Factory where the super computer connecting the two worlds is located. Ulrich is virtualized, and finds himself in a heck of alot of trouble when more spectres appear in Xanadu, and attack him. Yumi and Odd are then virtualized and the pilot ends there (with credits played to the song "Love Foolosophy" by Jamiroquai ).

It's a really great little video. All the character's look the same more or less, but there's no Aelita, and as I mentioned, Lyoko is a place called Xanadu. Supposedly there were other episodes revealing Yumi and Odd's virtual forms, and Ulrich's power outside of Lyoko, and that Jeremie (in absence of Aelita) had a crush on Millie...but we've yet to find them, if they do actually exist. ^^; Apart from that...the only other big difference between GK and Lyoko is...well...Ulrich's virtual form...but we don't have to go into that...

If you can ever find a way to view it, I know you'll enjoy it.

Oh, there is also supposedly a 45 minute prequel coming out during or after season 2 airs that gives "Code Lyoko" version of how the group met and how they found the Factory, Aelita, and XANA. There's hardly any info on it, but it will come out eventually.

We haven't been told yet. It'll probably air on CN and then be a direct-to-video release soon after. At least I hope so. ^_^

I remember the first time I saw GK...I thought it was better than CL. Heck, I even made a huge thread about it over on tvtome way back when. It was sometime like about a month or so after I joined...anyone remember that thread? (question to ex tomers only...duh).

True...but I ADORE LF!

I remember that thread Vili. It had some of the best GK discussions on it. I think that was also the thread where we discussed asking AnteFilms to make a "The Making of Code Lyoko" book (although maybe that was the merchandise thread). I remember Kagetsu posted a link to a really cool pdf file picture that had all these little concept drawings of Ulrich, Yumi, Odd and Jeremie.

I think one of the best discussions on that thread was the debate as to whether Yumi was supposed to be the "hero" or main character of Garage Kids. Which in turn reminds me of the multiple times the question of whether Yumi was the leader was brought up... ^^;
