Even though Aelita is 12

This is a question for anyone that can try to tolerate me.

Even though some 12 year olds don't usually become adult, Aelita, for being 12, has a woman's chest and voice! Can someone explain this to me?

Well Aelita was originally developed as a very mature, serene character - Season One for example. It didn't make sense to change her I guess in S2 where she is now playing the part of a 12-year old.

Also note how immature Aelita is in her flashbacks (in behaviour and voice), suggesting that her maturity might stem from the loss of her memories - a new personailty building around what little remains of the old. This might act as some justification for her voice.

As for her chest...you got me there - maybe it's all the chemicals they put in our water nowadays!

Hehe Star - I must add the only thing I have to go on as comparative evidence of...emm...femine adolescant development is my 13-year old sister who is by no means at Aelita's level.

Could be just character design. Kinda like how every boy has an interesting set of pectoral muscles, even the nerds. Really, Sissi, Heidi Klinger, and Yumi has ... um ... larger assets than Aelita, so I don't see the problem, unless you have weird thoughts about how the animators like to draw their characters.

As for her maturity, well in Season 1, she was originally thought to be just a computer program and with it, a sense of thinking patiently and logically. Though once a more "human" personality developed on Earth where she started to act more "human", the Aelita of Season 1 seemed like a far-gone memory.

Mn, Aelita does sound like a young woman more than a young girl in both the French and English versions of the show, but I can't say why.

And I don't see how Aelita is as developed as a grown woman. She has a smaller chest than Yumi does. I'm probably the least developed girl in my school, and I'd be about the size of Aelita.

I'm surprised there are even questions about breast size. After all, C:L is supposedly inspired by anime. I'd be a little frightened if they made a spinoff show about the characters as adults.

Just one. Aelita's generally considerd to be thirteen, not twelve, I thought. Only Jeremie was supposedly twelve in season 1, and in season 2 supposedly turns 13 ("Franz Hopper").

At thirteen, depending on genetics and certain dietary things, a girl can hit puberty which includes voice changes and such (though the voice change in a girl is usually not as drastic as a boy's).

Honestly, I think she looks thirteen, considering that Yumi is 14 and slightly taller than her. I'm not exactly sure what a 13 year old is "supposed" to sound like so I think her voice is just fine too. My most esteemed compliments to Ms. Mann for such a beautifully prim and proper voice.

All right, one thing I've noticed in Cartoon shows these days is that the characters are more than likely a little older than what they say they are.

Unintentionally, I mean, they just come across as older. One could assume Aelita and Co are around 13-14ish just by watching them. He'll I'd even say even as far as 15.

Hmm - good points - the only evidence I can give against is this scene from Common Interest.

"Okay, what have we got?"

"Adolescent, 12 years old, very weak pulse, irregular heartbeat."

Clearly the nurse/ambulance driver would have gotten Aelita's documentation off Delmas at the school and relayed that data to the doctor so 12 years is her age according to Jeremie's fake ID/birth certificate. I'll accept though that Jeremie has no means of assessing Aelita's age and could have made a mistake when he 'created' her identification.

Now another point is that at that age, Aelita should be TWO-to-THREE grades down from Ulrich and Odd (the uncertainty is based on the fact that her fake 'date of birth' might have an effect on which) - Jeremie skipped one grade, so clearly another part of her fake ID must have included a fake history of education stating she is a prodigy and has previously been skipped several grades. Thankfully Aelita has the brains to back up this statement.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought she seemed older in Lyoko

She'd only be around 10 years older than she was after her first virtualization. She was first virtualized in 1994, gathered from "The Key". Now unless we are to take a leap in faith and say that until Code: Earth, the year was 2014, its not likely that she is 20 or 30 years older than she was previously. Now if going by the estimate that she was 12 at the time of her virtualization, and the assumption that the year she materialized was 2003-2004 (around the time the first season was shown), after Code: Earth she may be 21-22 years old. Taken into consideration the possibility that she may have been older when she was virtualized, and that a years time or so may have passed since Teddygozilla, and she may be as old as 25, chronologically speaking. Of course her mental age is still that of a teenager.

Kinda makes me wonder how deep Jeremie's faked history is of Aelita. In False Start, it was very shallow, like it was cobbled together and the only thing holding it was Odd's forged letter from his parents. Yumi and Odd didn't even agree on a last name or place of birth. But still included a history of good academics so that Aelita would be in the same grade as them. Wonder how much greater precautions they took this time around. She had to have a basic history to determine her age and something to hand off to the doctors in Common Interest, as well as hacking the phone company to get her a cell phone account. The history, they seem to agree upon (same last name, same place of origin, same relations to Odd), but Jeremie for some reason or another forgot to create a medical history report as shown in Tip-Top Shape. Wonder what other loose ends he left lying about.

Aelita seemed older in Lyoko...at least 15. Then again, Yumi, Ulrich and Odd all look older in Lyoko. (Seriously!! Compare the faces...I've noticed that...)
