Episode idea: Power Loss (Odd-focused episode)

Bad soap opera? Possibly. In fact more than likely. However I'd been working on the idea of Jim being involved with Carthage for a long time and would like to homage it in some way (as well as see all the ideas I'd worked on go to waste) - in this case he's referring to the investigation at Kadic that must have occured around June 1994 - as a former collegue Odd's father took Jim into his confidence.

I thought we'd established from the books that Odd's dad was an artist?

If you want to homage Jim/Carthage, what about:

*Jim appears in Carthage, virtualising for the first time, Ulrich and Aelita either side.*

Jim (scowls): "Oh great, this place again."

Ulrich (looking confused): "You've been here before?"

Jim: "I don't want to talk about it."

Short and sweet, continues the running joke and doesn't run the risk of finishing the ep with the theme from Eastenders.

Hmm...perhaps Odd's Dad as 'General assigned to the Carthage Project and friend of Franz Hopper' doesn't work, but I like to hold to the idea, especially after Matt Geczy gushed extatically about a picture I drew depicting such a man (Matt's dad was also an army general and his mom an expressionist painter).

And not to offend, but one can be in the military and also an artist (the word has a very loose meaning) - what if Dad was a great musician in the regiment's jazz group (saxophone player?) - again ties to Jim and his trombone, as well as continuing Odd's artistic and expressive nature, as well as explaining Odd's occasional refferences to military terms.

That said, I agree that it might be a bit cack-handed (and I never realised you were British Cassius - Eastenders ) - if I do write such an episode, it would be very carefully structured to not sound like a soap-opera, whilst also tying into an idea I have for an overall story-arc (again relating to Carthage and the events prior to June 6th 1994).

For now, how about we drop the 'Jim-orientated-episode' and work out how to start this virtual season?

Ok I have a rough sketch of the scorpio TB3 came up with. It doesnt have the scorpion tail weapons yet...

I gave it a double wheel design for stability, ( I was looking at how the Mega-Tank rolls and took from that) and because of the Helicopter mode, but I'll show you how the double wheel design comes into play for that later when I've sketched it down...

I drew the Krab shell from memory so in sorry if i got it totaly wrong.

Theres a side on view, and a view from in front at an angle. what do you think?

From Dead to comatose? hows he gonna come back from the dead?

As in 'come back from the dead' he means Odd's heart stops breifly, and since he was in a coma he's technically dead (no brain or body activity) - the doctors are able to resussitate him though and he remains in a comalong enough for his friends to save him.

Yeah, and then suddenly the Scyphozoa appears. As soon as the Scyphozoa's tentacles lift up Odd, XANA's voice says "And now, your energy is mine!". Thw two other tentacles are placed at Odd's temples and the draining process starts.

Way too corny! And this is coming from 'Mr. Soap-Opera' - perhaps we could have something really dark and ominious - like a power fluctuation in Lyoko. Remember though, as a virtual being Odd doesn't possess energy within him - we'd have to wait for him to get back to reality before things go really wrong.

perhaps the Scyphozoa could leave a small attachment in Odds program that devirtualized is a XANA specter and when he comes into contact with a computer or an electronic device it starts draining him or something then leaves his body...

A simple link between Odd and the computer would work - unfortunately this episode can't look too much like a rip-off of 'Tip Top Shape' and 'The Key,' so we need a new element...

I was thinking , because of Taelia's suggestion of the draining happening at Odd's temples, for it to be some sorta experiment invilving a helmet, like virtual reality... could be a game he bought or some prototype for something Jeremy was working on cuz I don't recall ever seeing Odd in a computing lesson... but then its farfetched and doesnt fit in anywhere.

I haven't gotten around to the heli-mode because I'm not too sure about what I'm gonna draw it as, i had an idea that the left side wheels swung to meet on the side and same for the right, but it couldnt make it look right...

Here’s a brief synopsis of the episodes we’ve planned out to date for everyone to see.

Y2K2
It’s the start of term and aside from the opening of Kadic’s new computer lab everything’s back to normal. The sky is blue, the birds are singing and XANA’s attacking. His intentions are unknown, but what is certain – he’s stopped playing around, as a nasty incident with the scanners prove.

RETURN TO THE PAST
Trapped in the year 2026, where XANA rules an enslaved human populace, the kids are faced with a crisis – take XANA down now, when his guard is dropped, or try to Return to the Past and continue the fight!

DATING DILEMMA
The sojourn in 2026 has led to many things – Ulrich’s finally got the nerve to ask Yumi on a date and now Jeremie’s trying to make his move on Aelita – not even XANA could toy with the team as much as Cupid does (this episode has no XANA attack or trip to Lyoko aside from at the start – it’s all about the couples).

SPIRIT OF THE SEASON
Merry Christmas, or it would be, except Xanta Claus is coming to town!

END OF THE LINE
The Christmas holidays are over and the team’s back at school – except for Ulrich, who’s train home has been held up by snow in the mountains. However, XANA extends his power in a new way, leaving Ulrich and his family and countless innocents stuck on a runaway train to oblivion.

CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT
The school is performing ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’ with William in the lead role and the team filling the other roles – however William’s evil laugh and glowing eyes are a bit too convincing. But there’s no such thing as vampires, right?

(Note, due to an unforeseen glitch in the computer, at the end of the episode Sissi begins to regain her lost memories – unknown to the team)

HATE MAIL
One night, Kadic is awoken to the sounds of horrendous screaming. Sissi has just regained a phenomenal amount of memories, and the mental overload is threatening to damage her. The babbled words ‘Lyoko’ and ‘XANA’ in her fitful sleep confirms the kids fears – she’s remembering.

The revelation divides the group, with Odd and Aelita pushing the idea of letting Sissi onto the team for her sanity’s sake and Yumi and Ulrich resisting. XANA’s latest attack only worsens this situation, when he drives Ulrich into a cataclysmic rage. With the team divided and weakened, how can they recover this situation?

SHOP TILL YOU DROP
Yumi and Aelita decide to bond with new team-member Sissi in the only way they can – they go on a three-some shopping spree. It would be a pleasant day, if it wasn’t for the fact that XANA’s materialised the over-vehicles to take the team down. With the three boys soon incapacitated the girl’s day out sound becomes a Ladies Night in Lyoko, as Sissi goes into virtual combat for the first time.

ROAD RAGE
XANA’s power is growing in leaps and bounds, as he proves when he takes control of the cars at a ‘Classic Car’ show being held at Kadic. The kids find themselves confined to Kadic and unable to reach the factory, but Jeremie has learned a few tricks from XANA. If Mohammed can’t go to the mountain, the mountain shall come to Mohammed.

After this comes the ‘Power Drain’ two-parter’, and if I write a ‘Night to Remember’ it would go after ‘Road Rage.’
