Yes, I suppose I do leave quite a bit up to assumption, don't I? "you guys" is supposed to refer to the rest of the gang. i mention her taking him away from his group, so that they are the only ones present during this little scene.

As for their jobs, your guess is as good as mine. ^_^ It is futuristic, so it could even be that X.A.N.A has already been deactivated and Aelita materialized. That's up to the individual reader, I suppose.

Just think that the last phrase is unnecesary....just the smile thing is enoough since the smile kinda leaves the moment in a romantic end, while the phrase makes it loose some significance, being a more regular ending

Well, my usual pairing is Yumi/Ulrich, so I had quite a hard time bringing myself to write anything for Ulrich/Sissy that was romantically inclined. This was meant to show more of a friendship, a change in the pattern of behavior carried out in the series itself. I wanted to convey that with age and maturity comes acceptance and forgiveness, and the ability to overlook past opinions and wrongs. The fact that Ulrich is listening to Sissi when she speaks, and hearing what she wants, was really the point of the last sentence. Also, it shows that she has grown beyond demanding things of other people and is willing to discuss instead of insisting upon having her way.

Does it really? If you are looking for something romantic, it certainly does, I have to agree. I feel it goes well with the tone of the rest of the story though.

A lot of great stories end without a real ending. Cannery Row by John Steinbeck comes to mind...
