Howdy, I just started a multi-media course, and decided to put some of my knowledge in 3DS Max to work. There's probably been way better renders posted but hey, I'm a noob :smilie104: so here's the Krabe I made

That's actually a pretty good design for the Krabe for what you got there.

Wow, that IS good. There have been a few renders, but they've never really looked done. But wow, this has some great attention to detail.

Very good. The only bad thing I can see is that its too round.

I think thats next to perfect. It just looks slightly more like a materialized Krabe. Which still looks awesome.

Thanks for the comments guys :D and you were right JF, I tried fixing up the roof to look more crab like. Also tried out some lighting and poses

Still trying to make the legs look less tacky, those shapes are a real pain :P

Last Krabe looks a little too orange for my taste. I might have to watch an old CL episode with Krabes on the Desert sector. Image

Yeah, it's meant to look like it's got the desert's sun shining on it, but ended up looking like too much fake tan. I wanted to ask my 3D teacher about lighting and a few other things today, but aparantly he's found a better job a nicked off, and left us with some guy who just wants us to make chess sets... :whatever:

Thanks, but the current legs are pretty much quick place-holders, the real ones should look something like this..

Hey guys, I just learned how to make things move, and couldn't wait to put it to the test, and quickly threw together this little animation. If you had a chance to see it up close, you'd see limbs sticking threw one another and bending at abnormal angles, but from this angle it almost looks like walking ;) hope sendspace is ok.

Wow, the updated Krabe is incredible!! The video was great too, but something I'm sure you already noticed is that it's head shouldn't be wobbling back and forth. Fantastic job!!

Thanks for the comments everyone :D You'd be right about the video JH, the wobbling's to cover up some flaws going on with the leg animation ;) and you'd be amazed, kamekai just how fast this program opens up with nothing but a few nudges in the right direction :D
I wanted to have a near completed concept done by now, but I'm still obsessing over minor details in the pincers :smilie104: hopefully I'll be happy enough with it to post some more by tomorow.

Howdy again. I STILL don't have this finished, I'm sure everyone here knows about putting up with the thing called school work :snoring:, but I did scrounge up some free time to try my hand at character creation. The results were, somewhat creepy looking.
