That's in "Exploration", the episode after this one. ^_^

Anyway, I was thoroughly enjoying the rerun today. You notice more things the second time through than before. I was rather impressed with a subtle piece of animation in this one that I hadn't caught before.

In the beginning, when the boy's first meet up with Yumi to tell her all about Franz Hopper, there's a close-up on Yumi. A really subtle yet smooth animation of the breeze blowing her hair back gently while she talks comes right afterward, and I just couldn't help but sit back and appreciate it. It gave the scene 20 times more realism than before (I love spring/fall breezes), and I've always admired wind animations, particularly those that tease around with hair. And it's such a tiny detail...hardly relevant to the scene itself other than that they're outside and there's a slight breeze. I love those little extra details the animators put in for the sake of the art. :)

"You're a creepy genius."

2nd time? ;) On a serious note I've seen this particular episode about 30 times both English and in French. I've also been through it slo-mo (aprox 6 frames/ps. There is STILL new things I see that you just don't notice the first 20 times. :toomuch:

Nice... I've noticed that as well. How do you get to see the french episodes? You have France3 on cable? Or another source I'm not aware of?

Btw, I've seen it today (reruned by Jetix, at the price of not seeing Missing Link)... it was good. Now I understand where Mister Puck came from.

Mewberries151 wrote:Sissi arrives (having already taken her shower ) and tells her there's another shower on the next floor that doesn't have a line of girls waiting for it. Aelita heads for that one, unaware that Sissi's playing a mean trick on her. The empty shower room is the boy's shower room. Luckily, Ulrich and Odd are there and manage to save her from further embarrassment.

Sissi taking 3 baths in a day. Privileges of abusing her power at Kadic, even if most teachers think of Elisabeth (as Mrs. Hertz called her) as an idiot. Actually, I think Aelita saw some guys completely naked in the bathroom, but since Aelita didn't seem very traumatizied (maybe she saw an anatomy book or pornography before in her first week, lol... who knows?), I'm gonna bet she didn't saw anyone's dick. The dilema of the off-screen parts. And notice the complaining voices when she enters the bathroom.

Mewberries151 wrote:I loved the "Tunic Wars" line

Same here, but with "guerras túnicas". It's the same meaning, though. But Jeremie's knowledge for history saved his friends and let them into Carthage. Btw, he tried Hannibal, Hamilcar, Salomon (not correct on this one), a password begining with M and then Scipio.

EDIT: Ulrich mistaked it with "guerras únicas". And that would have been in English "unique wars"... lol, CL has some unique wars! XD

Mewberries151 wrote:Aelita: (before Odd can say a word)...True...and maybe one day you'll sprout a brain.

In the spanish version, before Aelita interrupted Odd, he spoke: Oye Sissi... (Hey Sissi) and then came the lines of Aelita. "Y te brotará un cerebro"... priceless the Aelita quote. At the end, she was the happy person standing...

As amusing as it would be to think that Aelita saw Odd and Ulrich nude, I doubt Aelita really saw anything. The bathrooms are divided into 2 rooms, one rooms the showers, one rooms the sinks. Judging by how quickly they caught Aelita, she probably didn't make it to the showers. And unless Odd and Ulrich don't mind changing in front of people as they're brushing their teeth, I would think they kept their towels on, but I wouldn't really know, never took a shower in a public bath before.

Speaking of showers, what was Sissi doing in there anyways that would create such a line on the outside? The bathrooms have multiple stalls so she couldn't have hogged them all. And there is the sink room, so instead of having a line outside, they could of waited inside. I can't think of a rational action she could of been doing to hold up the bathroom like that.

And among Jeremie's various attempted passwords, there was Hannibal, his father Hamilcar, his sister Salammeo, their nemisis Rome, some god associated with Carthage Moloch, and of course Scipio.

I didn't necesary implied that she could have seen Odd and Ulrich naked changing in front of everyone else. Other Kadic boys naked... but then, there's the dilema of the offscreen episodes. It would have been hilarious if Aelita would have saw Jeremie naked changing his clothes at the bathrooms. But that would hardly happen. Sex appeal, xD.

Interesting that no one talked about the bathroom scene since it aired in Frace and USA before it hit Jetix Latinamerica.

Remember Sissi's Season 1 role around Kadic. And don't forget the make-up kit, but I don't think she would do her make up at the bathroom.

And thanks for the codes Jeremie attempted to write.

It was Mr. Puck, my doll...from when I was little...and I got scared and dreamed about him.

You guys are still on Unchartered Territory? I'm on The Key ^___^ Lucky me.

Mr. Puck is cool. Don't diss him. *hugs her Mr. Puck doll* Daddy gave it to me. It was a gift from him since Mommy left.

Vili made that post about Mr. Puck ages before we found out who he actually was in the series. Also, alot of people at LF are in the UK and have only just gotten to see some of Season 2 so please be more aware of that and keep the gloating to a minimum if you don't mind. Thanks. ^^

Bing bing bing! We have a winner!

I often forget about this episode - I don't think I've seen it since it first ran in 2005. So, it'll be great to revisit, right? Of course! Watching CL is always fun, whether you admit it to yourself or not. :3

Green green green green green theme song! I only just noticed that the interlocking theme song videos are in the shape of Eyes of XANA. Is this dangerous? D: Anyway. UNCHARTED TERRITREE

Even after knowing who Mr. Pück is, I can't make any sense out of this dream sequence! Sure, the novel knowledge that the wolves are a residual memory helps...which does make this dream more legitimately dreamlike. Could be that Mr. Pück represents her previous life, which the wolves destroyed...but her previous existence is still out there somewhere.

But I will admit: watching for the first time, this made no bleeding sense. Which is AWESOME, if you think about it. Nice use of foreshadowing, a new tool to the writers.

*hugs Aelita* She has to wake up screaming way too often. Though I admit I love her storyline this season. It makes a mysterious character even more mysterious! The blurry panaround of her room was also cool. And there's her pajamas! Hi, Aelita's pajamas!

Jeremie probably didn't even go to bed - work work work all the time, that's Jeremie B. "Wow! Unbelievable!" You bet it is!

Ulrich, the Hermitage ALWAYS trumps hot showers!

"Odd, you're a real walking stomach, you know that?" According to Season 2, definitely. "And you're a walking brain. See, we compliment each other." The humor is cleverer this season.

I was right - Jeremie got no sleep (till Brooklyn). FRANZ HOPPER. Memorize that name, Jeremie dearest, he's gonna be your father-in-law in ten years. At least Ulrich and Odd are quick to figure out Franz's connection to the compooper.

LOL girls' shower line. What I don't get is, if their horribly immodest showers are set up the way they are, why is there this much of a line for one girl? Is it that no one wants to shower with her around? Or, more reasonably, that she simply takes up one of the limited stalls for a long time? Or it could just be a joke. Whatever. For annoying the whole class Sissi's being shockingly mean in return. Great response, Milly and Tamiya! For once I advocate your childhood.

OHAI JEAN BAPTISTE PUJOL. YEAH YOU JUST SNEAK INTO THE GIRLS' SHOWERS WITH NO ONE NOTICING. HAVE FUN. Sissi, considering I had an avatar for several weeks with the word "bitch" in it and no one said a damn thing, I would like to take this opportunity to say that you are a BITCH. That was a terrible and cruel trick to play, especially if you KNEW she would fall for it.

La di da di da, not a girl in sight. And the fangirls scream in delight as Ulrich and Odd come out only in towels! I think Aelita's very lucky that Ulrich and Odd were out in the sink area - otherwise it would've been worse for her. (On that note, I wonder how long it took them to scrape Jeremie off the ceiling.)

"A young lady has no business in the boy's showers!" What a way for Aelita to learn the differences between sexes. In this case, the lesson is, girls are mean, boys are more morally grounded.

Sissi clearly takes delight in being this mean, for all she does it in front of the guy she wants to DATE. "Can't you leave Aelita alone for once?" So, wait, she bullies her all the time? D8

I can't believe she has the nerve to call him "sweetie." "She's gonna have to adapt, isn't she? It's a jungle out there." Yeah, Sissi, but in this case you don't have to save the rainforest. And LOL, Odd. Newsflash, you're naked in front of her. Wait, they're naked in front of Sissi and no one says a thing...

"And to think you guys actually kissed once." CONTINUITY! But does that mean the month they supposedly dated existed too? I wonder...

You can tell the animation budget's getting better when Yumi's hair blows while she's talking for no reason but to tell us that, yes, there's movement in this show! Ah, so the Hermitage is pretty close. And Franz Hopper isn't that common a name to be sure. (Neither is Waldo Schaeffer.)

In retrospect, maybe barring her from sexy exciting adventures in the Kadic Archives wasn't the best for her psychologically... "I can't get used to living here." I'll say! And Sissi's not making it any better. Aelita's not used to anything with a human shape being mean to her - or even paying attention to anyone but her, considering she saw Jeremie nigh-constantly and never saw the other three outside Lyoko - so she's having some difficulty comprehending that there's another life out there. Poor thing. But, Yumi - bless her for being nice - ends up being right - it's growing pains. Or at least she feels better once she gets her memories back.

THE BEST SUPERSPIES EVER. It's a testament to my age that the first time I saw this I went OHDUH F FOR FRANZ. Not that it made a difference. Secretary lady whose name I forget! Uh...Nicole Weber! Nice job sounding exactly like Ms. Hertz! Lol. Different teachers. Best distractions ever.

Those signatures ARE different! But I'll chalk that up to animators' error. And that's the only thing Jeremie looked at in there? He could've gotten loads a' dirt on Franz...

Funny. Three different teachers.

This scene always makes me terribly sad - Aelita's alone in a strange and imperfect world. D: Jean-Baptiste, just cause you got away with going in the other gender's showers and she didn't gives you no right to push her around! And it's even sadder to think that Rosa was trying to be nice enough, but ended up scaring her...D:

It sounds so strange when Jeremie says the deed was on the internet. Good news there is that the house is still owned, so it won't be bulldozed or anything soon.

Minute? The house is far away! GET BACK AND GET TO AELITA YOU DUMBKOPHS

Okay, I misremembered this episode. Yumi didn't blow Aelita off to sit with William - but she STILL made no attempt to make sure she was okay! D: And I'm not sure Aelita got the best impression of William, what with all of Ulrich's grumbles about him. (Just speaking from her perspective.) Sissi, go away. I don't like you in this episode. You made Aelita cry! Her snark isn't as iron yet...

Anyway, oblivious idiot boys in the Hermitage. At least they know what they're doing. Franz Hopper has lots and lots of science books. (I bet he read them to Aelita at bedtime.)

THE TUNIC WARS. To be fair, they ARE in tunics. Where did the word "Punic" come from anyway? Whatever. Them thar elephant got some fancy tusks. Notes!

Is this the first timed virtualization? I think it is. Aelita must really be upset if she thinks LYOKO, where everything is out to kill her, is worse than Earth, where they can only psychologically damage her.

It's about time you noticed she was gone! And, does everyone have the stupid today? Sissi insults Aelita and Hertz just says she's disrupting the class. Though she did call her Elisabeth, so that makes me happy enough.

Well, kids, if you're going to make trying to find Aelita that obvious...

See, Aelita? Home!

Well, at least they got to her. "Does Yumi know?" "I left her a message." Looks like he's still unwilling to meet her if it means meeting William. Swimming pool, Yumi? (Lol...William gets to see her in a swimsuit and Ulrich doesn't.)

For all the complexity of the first part of the half-hour this dialogue is fairly straightforward. The three of them look pretty pissed off in the scanners. Virtualization. Running. Why no vehicles?

Fighting and running. So. Not much to say here. Though Odd's acrobatics with that Krabe are cool. All the Lyoko fighting is getting a lot cooler. I was wondering why there were no vehicles.

And just as we think this episode is getting too standard...a giant sphere shows up. What. "She must really be mad at us." D:

Confusion! In all the emotional excitement I'd almost forgotten what the actual uncharted territory was. "She's in a sector...that doesn't exist." OOOOOH. Mysterious password prompt.

SECTOR FIIIIVE! Back in 2005, to a viewer used to more organic sectors, this of course made no flippin' sense. But it's still awesome. Very streamlined and blue.

Hornets. I recognize a lot of scenes from the theme song. Okay, I have to admit- the midair super-sprint spinning-sword thing Ulrich did was awesome to the point of unreal.

CARTHAGE! Now we know where I got my username. Salambo? Who names their daughter Salambo?

Back to Carthage. It's still shiny. OHAI CREEPER! Call me crazy, but I always liked Creepers. They're so funny lookin.

SCIPIO. Anyone else find it strange that the spaces in the password prompts always matched the length of his queries?

Time for a trip into the ball of Lyoko, kids! I don't have much to say, but I always thought it was great that the show was going in a new direction.

I always thought the giant run through Lyoko was cool, especially with the new and creepy music - and the fact that all the tower wires ran into the light. Screens! SECTOR 5! Now, I could never figure it out - was Sector 5 orange in Season 4? Oh well, we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. For now, just marvel at the cool. Seriously loving the camera angles here.

IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN! DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO

Lots and lots of creepers now. OHAI SKIPPY HOW YOU DOIN' BEING ALL WEIRD AND FULL'A TENTACLES? Skippy scared me even then, because it looked so frail - which meant it could do something worse than physically hurt...

Aelita's so desperate to depend on Jeremie that she can't even say his name right! D:

IT'S TENTACLE RAPE TIEM D: At one time, I thought Skippy was a girl. Now I don't see why I ever thought that. YEAH KIDS DESTROY THE THING! The Creepers are still so funny lookin. SECTOR 5 SHE'S A CHANGING! Now I don't remember. What happens if you get devirtualized in Carthage...? Oh, good, we don't have to find out!

There is so much reused Jeremie footage it's not funny. I think this is the first time we've seen an auto-dematerialization, too. The supercomputer's just full of new powers!

And now all is well at Kadic. "XANA wants to get something out of you, but what?" Who knooows. Two title drops in ten seconds? Good work.

And good thing that whole plot got resolved - and that Aelita has some people she can depend on. "I promise to spend more time with you." I hope he kept that promise at least a little bit!

"I'll teach you plenty of ways to tell Sissi to go to-" Go to what, precisely, Odd? :3

"Do you know what your filthy mutt did in the shower?" Exactly what he does all the time, Sissi! And that's not considering how Kiwi was in the girls' showers...

Odd looks PISSED. Am I right in saying that there's a bit of an Odd/Aelita undercurrent this season? I think there is. That's the dirtiest look I've ever seen on his face.

"Yes, you never know, you might just sprout a brain!" OOOH! BURN! Yay for Aelita developing her snark! 8D Now Sissi doesn't threaten her anymore, see? And it's another Everybody Laughs ending.

PROS:
- Great combination of emotional storyline and Lyokostuffs
- SECTOR FIVE
- FRANZ HOPPER
- OTHER PLOTULAR ITEMS
- Despite my hatred of Sissi she did well in this episode
- Ulrich and Odd fanservice
- I really did feel sorry for Aelita
- Aelita develops a personality!

CONS:
- Lots of reused scenes
- Couldn't find much to say about the Lyoko

I don't know how long I'm going to be this happy with Season 2- but darn it I am! Watch it. You know you want to.
