From what I saw, it's just not a good idea to teach the others to virtualize and coordinate. Sure, Yumi could pick it up, but the others? Talk about a risky move, Jer. This is heavily advanced equipment, and putting it in the hands of Odd is just wrong. Also, they only need to go there if there's a Xana Attack or when they go traveling with the ship, both of which require Aelita, who could easily program a timed virtualization to get everyone there.
It weakens the team, and it's a pretty hard skill to work with. I mean, if Jeremie decides that they need to learn how to bring up the Overboard, Overbike, or Overwing, I can't see this being useful in the long run. For tactical purposes. It's better if they all go in as a group of 3 at least, and the full group at max than nothing at all. Besides, Jeremie would still have issues with Aelita and one of the others going alone ever since Final Round.
Or, they get Jeremie in there. I mean, that just makes sense. Looks weird or not, he gets his chance to shine.
Now, I'll have to think about which episodes dealt with the pool and the gymnasium. I don't think anything involving the pool happened in the series, but I do get the feeling that whatever the one at the gym was, happened in canon. (Or it will eventually be depicted in fan-fiction. )
