S3 Episode 4: Fausse Piste (False Lead)

Postby TB3 » Sat Sep 30, 2006 5:58 am

Ah, another new ep, straight from France.

(sings ala' Will Smith) "Here come, the Men In Black..."

And GRRRRRR, they refer to the nuclear battery as Uranium (again!) - time for some high-end thinking in LTT! :P

And tragically, this episode features a death ;)

Discuss here :)

That's the US title.

Rhys, what about putting the French title as 'Distorted Track'? Might read a little better.

We knew the MIB would be sneaking around eventually. Given what XANA was supposedly created for, this ought to be interesting.

Then the title of the topic should be the French title. Fausse Piste, IIRC.

Aelita's got balls :P

And there was a death - the Tamagochi! :P

Hmm - animation: superb, plot: excellent - my only problem is they didn't wrap up the Agents plot-line i.e. what happened with them after the RTTP.

I suspect these guys aren't looking for the supercomputer, but possibly the nuclear material pirated by XANA/Peter Duncan - they seemed to think 'Jean-Pierre' was some sort of terrorist leader and Jeremie was helping him build a bomb, if I'm interpreting the French right.

Based on that, these two could possibly be a pair of pawns used by Project Carthage to hunt for the supercomputer, on the pretence of hunting for the 'Uranium'

Either way, a great ep, and Jim got his fair share of fun too.

PS: Possessions got a d*mn lot scarier!

GREAT Lyoko fight in this one. Tarantula's may be newer, but the Megatanks are still pretty damn bad a**! Poor Jim. that's...what, third time the poor guy has been in the Supercalculator Rom just prior to a RTTP?

And poor Jean Peirre. Kinda wish either Aelita or Yumi had kept it, instead of Hiroki killing it...

*laughs maniacally* That was evil, TB3...very evil. X)

Cassius335 wrote:And poor Jean Peirre. Kinda wish either Aelita or Yumi had kept it, instead of Hiroki killing it...

*snickers* I'm beginning to wonder though if Yumi didn't give it to Hiroki on purpose.

Heh...this episode's so going to earn Moonscoop a call from the "SPCT"...Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Tamagotchis. *snickers more*

I find it terribly amusing that Odd had a tamagotchi to begin with...Doesn't he have enough things to take care of considering he's also hiding a dog in his dorm? Plus...weren't tamagotchi's more a "girl" thing? Lol...

Wow...Jeremie being accused of being a terrorist. I absolutely never saw that coming. ;) How could anyone possibly come to that conclusion anyway? Goodness, he's only hacked into government records, failed to return stolen chemical goods, resisted arrest on two occasions...how could they possibly think he's a terrorist? Rofl! (I know the accusation would be serious under realistic circumstances...but we've all joked about Jeremie's er...well-intentioned law-breaking, so fair's fair).

Did anyone else find the caucasian agent's voice exceedingly hilarious though? XD

And Jim has been getting some serious attention this season. Way to save the kids...and that earlier landing earns him a perfect 10. (X

Ulrich also rocked in this...heh...he "pwned" Jim. ^^

As far as Lyoko is concerned though, Odd and Aelita are still rocking out loud. (I personally loved the scene where they're all sitting around bored watching Odd, who's floating around on his OverBoard above).

Aelita's power/weapon is really versatile...and can break through Megatank blasts...dude!

I think the expression work on the characters in Lyoko has really improved (and it was great to start with). Yumi's eye rolling at Odd's antics, and then Odd's pouty face later on in the episode was great fun to watch.

Yumi's telekinesis? Awesome!

Heh heh...and Ulrich ends up with 7 years bad luck...although who knew mirrors could reflect XANA bolts? That's a pretty good thing to keep in mind....

The moral of this episode though is: Always name your Tamagotchi, "Schmoopsy Pants" or something silly like that. Otherwise, you may just be mistaken for a kidnapper. O.O (j/k)
"Hey, make up your mind. Am I a genius or a creep?"
"You're a creepy genius."

Semi-play-by-play commentary from me with no f**king idea about what the h*ll they're talking about.

Those Toowan intros give some fresh air to each episode, I'm telling you.

A tamagochi on Code Lyoko. More japanese references along with that bloody Totoro Yumi had.

Men In Black... the black suits are on CL and hanging around by Kadic. The black dude's face reminded me of Dalshim while the other dude reminded me of one of the agents from the first Matrix movie (take a look at what's next to his ear). The VA for the white agent made him sound gay.

Odd slams the cafeteria table and not a single dip from the hot soup landed on Odd's hand. That would have been awesome.

Odd and Sissi chatting again... I know a feeling that something might happen, even if Odd dislikes her.

Men in black tossed Principal Delmas against his own chair, but the chair didn't even moved. It's attached to the floor, I'm telling ya'. The MIB appeared to Kadic because I think they finally detected the activities coming from Jeremie's room.

Jim showed up. Meh... he wants to find Jeremie.

Odd's still pissed off. I think this season will show Odd getting pissed with more frequence than in any other season.

So, we finally get to see that Kadic had surveillance system with videos around the school. Good for the school, I wonder since when they had them. And Jim seems to speak crap or has worthless opinions, no wonder he has been told to shut up twice.

Oh... the Xana signal beams up. Jim goes undercover to check out on Jeremie and the gang. And it's kinda amusing that when he told the MIB that he just spotted the gang at the sewer, the MIB were just behind him. Wicked.

You know... the whole "Transfer ____, Scanner ____, Virtualization" scenes are usually time consuming... we know how the things go... but how will new fans learn about how things go, even if this episode becomes their first exposition to Code Lyoko? And hey, Jeremie said "Transfer Odd, Virtualization"... he ignored the scanning procress or he just realized it's dumb to speak the whole frase? I wonder when every time he said the TSV phrase, the people inside the scanners could hear him to know that the process is going well. I want to believe he just says the TSV phrase as a security measure.

The MIB did a cool landing to the factory, while Jim sucked. Humor for the 7 year old kids to laugh at hard. Meh.

White tower! Franz Hopper is watching porn! Just kidding... and oh my god, Jeremie might get busted by the MIB that look at him just like he was a terrorist, but he's just something more than your average techie nerd.

Odd surfing around the tower... oh dear, the guys must be bored when Jeremie isn't giving them instructions. Hey, press a button, hoverboard goes poof. Press the button again, hoverboard appears, and it slightly hit on Odd's head. Touchy detail. And now they wonder if Jeremie's just toying around with them.

Odd shot Ulrich with 1 laser arrow and Ulrich got back to Earth. I think the black agent triggered Odd to do so.

Sweet Chin Music!! Well... forget that move... Ulrich kicked Jim! That was awesome, but his face didn't got busted wide open.

Ulrich rings Jeremie's mobile, but the white agent now knows about Xana.

A white tower in the Mountain Region goes from white to red. Good, we're gonna see some action.

Oh my God! Xana did the most coolest posession with that white agent. The shades! Black and orange. Woot! And Delmas got shocked by him. Jeremie ran away, he's a wuss. Just kidding. But the black dude getting posessed was like pissed-off mode. But he goes with Jim on the elevator. Meh.

D*mn, this must be the episode where the team is pretty bored as h*ll in Lyoko. Meanwhile, Code Lyoko goes Unplugged. Yay. And Jim gets shocked. Ulrich is on the supercomputer. He now manages to have a better hold of the pc.

Jeremie got lucky to escape from the white agent, I'm telling ya'.

Now, the regions are starting to get erased... and Yumi saved Aelita from the digital void at the Mountain Region. Aelita is better on the hoverboard, and she wanted to be saved by Odd, I think.

Three Megatanks. Odd aims, he failed. Yumi's fans got blocked. Aelita's energy balls destroyed the ray beam from the Megatanks.

Jeremie swung on the ropes like Tarzan. He should be riding a skateboard rather than using a scooter on the sewers!

Aelita's recreating with her energy balls that False Start scene in the same way as Ulrich used his sword against a Megatank.

Jim tried to save Ulrich and Jeremie's *sses, but to no avail.

A Megatank commited suicide, but it almost got the job done. That Megatank would have died with honor. But no, Yumi saved Odd with her tele-kinesis move. But another Megatank did a horizontal shot. Good move. But it left the Megatank exposed to aerial attacks.

The RTTP was a must. Too much things exposed to strangers.

Hiroki is a murderer.

Two things I wanted to point out:

1) TB3... mate, great trailer for the death thing. You got people in suspense enough to make them wait the whole d*amn episode just to see a Tamagochi dying. Kudos to you for that.

2) Let's see... does Jerome Mouscadet has a Japanese wife by any chance or has children born in Japan?
- A Totoro in Yumi's room.
-Principal Delmas looks like a japanese director.
-A Tamagochi.
-Asian music when Ulrich kicked Jim
-A megatank commited suicide, but had a semi-honorable death given that it almost got the job done.
-If Jerome's obsessed with Japan, he might say that the MIB are Yakuzas or Triads.

Or he's just a fan of the Japanese Culture but he is not the only guy in the Animation business who's a fan of the Japanese Culture in fact there's another fellow named Kevin Altieri who worked on Batman: The Animated Series and according to Bruce Timm out of all the people who worked on that show Kevin is the Uber-Anime geek and other Japanese stuff and he even referenced alot of Anime in the episodes he directed.

Okay... it could be. I haven't seen complete the 2nd and 3rd episode, I might check them later to see if there's more Japanese culture reference. And I'm sure you know where the Sweet Chin Music comes from, do you?
