bambi wrote:Hello Celahir Ciryatan, I don't think I've ever bumped into you around here. Pleased to meetcha!

Actually, I did have a firewall, but there were people staying at my house while I was away, so that's when it happened... What's your recommendation on an anti-virus?

Ah, the American government. Now, that's a can of worms. Don't get me started!

Its quite pleasure to meet you too.

I use AVG Free version as my antivirus,
Can be downloaded here: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5

I love my computer. I keep it nice and safe. For someone to get in to the system locally it requires a BIOS password, a harddrive password, and a user password, all of which are different. I keep encryption on sensitive files that not even the government could break, well in under 50 or so years. I also cycle through a dozen passwords for my accounts and pass my connection through proxies globally. And I have the coolest background ever :D

About the american government, I feel the same way, if not stronger. I hope to be able to move to England once I finish high school. I'm training to be a security analyst right now, not formally. I hope to get a job in the field there.

Ah, an EnkiQuestion (apparantly easy, but they make you think)... my favorite color, hmmmm, well I like green, red, and black for clothing, pink and yellow for flowers, blue for the sky, warm yellow for walls, orange, yellow and red for fall leaves, red for cars, white for towels, and purple in general. How does everybody else feel?

Star Way, butt in whenever you like! And thanks for the recommendations.

Celahir Ciryatan, wow, you've got a fortress there. Good going! Also, I wanted to ask you what language your name comes from and if it has a particular meaning.

Hey, Doggiegal, welcome to the thread! The American government is hypocritical, unfair (liberty and justice for WHO?), and couldn't care less about the 25% of its children living in poverty, but unfortunately there are ALOT of other nasty ones out there.

Green red and black for clothing? Interesting...

Red cars remind me of Ferrari somehow.

How do I feel? Kinda tired.

Add gold and you've got the Rasta colours... :D

bambi wrote: pink and yellow for flowers,

Lessee... roses, sunflowers, pansies (then again pansies are mostly black...)

bambi wrote: blue for the sky,

Beats grey, I guess, but I like black and white too (clear, moonlit night sky)

bambi wrote: warm yellow for walls,

O.K.; personally prefer white with black skirting...

bambi wrote: orange, yellow and red for fall leaves,

I have never seen fall leaves. Then again I've never seen winter either, so I guess it balances out...

bambi wrote: red for cars,

Italian racing colour. Blue for France, white for Germany (although they also claim silver), green for the UK, and blue & white for the US. Yellow and orange are for the Netherlands and Belgium, but I don't recall which is which...

bambi wrote: white for towels,

Ah, hotel towels! :D

bambi wrote: and purple in general.

Now why am I thinking of a purple Honda Twinstar 400 with a Windjammer fairing with weird symbols on it? "I never wanted to cause you any sorrow..." :D (Hmm... wonder if Odd is a Prince fan...)

bambi wrote: How does everybody else feel?

Apart from my replies above, I find I don't really have a favourite colour. If pressed on the matter, I'll choose white and yellow because, as an ex-biker and sometime commuter cyclist, the rule for me is "Be seen and not HURT!"

Indeed! I don't think I'll get into the issue of Jamaican politics right now; I'm going to eat breakfast soon...

DOS..Disk Operating System or Denial Of Service attacks. If that is in response to my BIOS password they are different. BIOS Basic Input Output System which handles basic system functions, like power management which is below the operating system. They so have powerful computers that they would put to use if it would help pin a crime important enough.

Does the invitation extend to me? I must sound like Agent Smith saying "Ms. Forrest" all the time... (and I made sure to use "Ms."; I couldn't use "Mrs." because I don't know the lucky guy's name...) I didn't read the books until after I saw the first of the movies. Maclellan was excellent, and so was Christopher Lee.

Speaking of Agent Smith, I didn't even recognize Hugo Weaving in the LOTR movies! Hmm, here we have Dracula, Count Dooku, Agent Smith and Magneto... what a villain's conference!

bambi wrote:

Which will probably be a country too far. As a conventional war, Iraq was a pushover because of a long repressed popular dissent against Saddam Hussein. Iran doesn't have that; they support their government. Considering the whole history, the fact that they got rid of the Shah despite the Shah's US backing, the fact that they dislike America more than they dislike their leaders, means that Iraq is going to fight like how Churchill said Britain was going to fight in that fateful summer of 1940.

Well, I loved to see Brazil losing against France. I really hate Ronaldo a lot, no matter what. Barthez was my idol after that match for a while. A image to remember that moment.

Image

Btw, the way you mentioned the fact you wanted a tv so badly (logical, who doesn't wanna see the World Cup ending?) sorta reminded me of a trip I made last year in classes. Some people were sorta desperate just to see a Peru match on a saturday afternoon. After exploring plants and making observations in some parts of Huaraz (in Ancash, Peru), as well as being tired from partying all night long (Ethnobotany teacher got pissed off with most of the class, only 3 stayed at the hotel while other 30 were partying around the city.). So desperate to see a Bolivia-Peru, that we were sorta lucky to find somewhere around the road with a tv. Then, to see Peru losing 1-0 against Bolivia. Peru ain´t making it to Germany 2006, once again, out of the best event of soccer that can ever exist (although I love the EuroCup a lot).

Anyways, I should ask two questions:
-How good is France's nightlife, in your personal opinion?
-How good is the voice acting business?

The Dracula from the Hammer Films productions that came out of England in the 60s and 70s. An actor named Christopher Lee, same guy who played Dooku and Saruman.

He also played an important role in a BBC miniseries called <i>Gormenghast</i>, which I have been told to see. I have no idea where or how I am going to see it. I've researched it, though, and while I do not remember what name his role had, I think he was some kind of royal chamberlain, and may have been, uncharacteristically enough, a good guy...

As an interesting side note, the man who played Van Helsing in the Hammer Films Dracula movies was Peter Cushing, who played Grand Moff Tarkin in what is now referred to as "Episode IV: A New Hope", but was at the time simply referred to as <i>Star Wars</i>.

All the French Code Lyoko Ani-Manga books type it as "Hooper". I've always wondered which version was the correct one...guess Season 2 will tell us. ^^

By the way, hello Ms. Forrest! I'm Mewberries151 (same from TVT), and I was wondering...Mr. Geczy said that for the longest time he hadn't gotten to see the actual English language episodes of Code Lyoko. Did you ever get to see them for yourself and are you looking forward to watching yourself in Season 2 (even though you already know the plots)? My apologies if this was asked before. ^_^

France's nightlife is a great unknown to me, other than movies, theater, and dining. There are tons of movies from all over the world, lots of theater and super yummy restaurants. But I take it that's not your idea of nightlife!

The voice acting business is up and down, up and down my man. Fortunately France has unemployment compensation for actors.

Hi Mewberries151, I remember your name (what is a mewberry?). I've seen some of the episodes that a friend taped for me, but the endings were cut off. I'm very much looking forward to dubbing the rest of season 2 (we're picking up again on the 29th). I don't necessarily know the plots since Sissi, Dorothy and Ms. Meyers (or however she spells her name!) don't usually have much screen time.

Enki Ishiyama wrote:Hey Jodi. :hello: Here comes an Enki question (if you wanna call it that). I asked this to you in my last letter but you mustve forgot about it. Do you like Pokemon? And is it as popular in France as it is in America and Japan?

Ah, an easy EnkiQuestion! I've never seen Pokemon. It was very popular for a while there, but the furor seems to have died down.
But passion lends them power, time means, to meet,

But of course, Monsieur!

Merci, madame! (This after several minutes searching my memory for the French word for "Gracias" or "Vielen Dank"... ^^; )

*blushes* Thanks SamBlob!

You're welcome, Jodi.

Mewberries151 wrote:By the way, hello Ms. ^_^

Hi Mewberries151, I remember your name (what is a mewberry?). I've seen some of the episodes that a friend taped for me, but the endings were cut off. I'm very much looking forward to dubbing the rest of season 2 (we're picking up again on the 29th). I guess that's like Anthony Perkins who spent one day on the set of Psycho...

(I hope MewBerries151 doesn't mind me decoding her name... ^^; ) The "Mew" and "151" are Pokémon references; Mew is a rare Pokémon and is number 151 on the Pokédex. "Berries" is in reference to a colour, I think...
My LF family:
Mother: StarWay
FairlyOddSister: CBIzumi
Awesome little sister: Mewberries151
Big sister with whom I often quarrel: Linii-chan
Mad scientist little brother: X1
Favourite cousin: Ransomed_Heart
Keeper of heraldic arms: Doggiegal (actually, I do my own coat of arms now...)

all welcome in Room#420
