Anyone ever hear of this service? legit or not? you are the techies people someone here must know right? Seriously if any of you know about it can you fill me in if it is safe, legit, and worth my time to get? need a way to run minecraft server without anyone getting my real IP.
Just buy a server if you're that worried. Otherwise just do dyndns.org
EDIT: Oh, no-ip is a site like Dyndns, either will work. Just gives you a domain that will point to your server IP. Yes it's safe and legit. providers like no-ip and dyndns are able to do this because they get customers who will pay for other services.
So yes, people will still be able to see your IP by doing a ping or traceroute on the hostname. Frankly, I'm not sure why someone should be bothered by that, considering servers everywhere see your IP daily.

Don't want people messing with your computer?
1. Only do port forwarding. Ignore guides that say to use a DMZ (especially if the minecraft server is on a Windows computer)
2. Keep it updated
3. Act smart
4. Find someone smarter who can help you when your server gets more than a few people
