Delete all metadata from non-images?

Is it possible to delete all metadata from any file? I'm talking about icon, name, author, company, everything.

No, i'm not stealing a program, i just want to make a program very anonymous looking.

It's possible, but I have no idea how to go about it. Maybe there's a command-line manipulator?
(yeah, the cool links in my old sig died. :( A few nerdy newish projects are here. )
